  • Video Out Cards for Powermac…any suggestions

Hi, I am using a Powermac G5 Quad and I have Avid installed on the system. I would like to monitor the video on a tv I have. The TV has coaxial in and RCA Video/Audio in. Can anyone suggest a PCI Video card that can accomodate this, possibly in HD? Thanks in advance…

If you have a TV…a plain old TV, then you aren’t going to be able to monitor HD. SD only. The only way to monitor HD is with an HD monitor. This is true for Avid as well. If you have HD footage, you’ll need a capture card with the appropriate outs that might downconvert it to work on a TV. Kona LH comes to mind.

The cheapest would be to get the Canopus ADVC-110…firewire from your computer to it, then RCA from it to the TV. Your next option would be a capture card with analogue outs, like the Decklink SP.

Oh…wait…WRONG NLE! I thought I was on the FCP forum….DUH!!! Sorry.

What version of Avid? The Avid Mojo might be your only option. Avid software requires Avid hardware. They are pretty guarded that way.

I know that if you have a deck attached you can preview/capture through the deck…do they make any cards that would be compatible like that, compatibe out with final cut and avid?
