    they get encoded real time from the camera somehow i believe……they have an ANYSTREAM system that does the encoding…

    offtopic, i hate that machine.

    in fact, they may only have realplayer files, and no masters too!!!

    gotta love it, lol. i was hoping for some sort of hack or open source solution…i am wondering if HANDBRAKE or ISQUINT, 2 great programs for making ipod videos will work…

    p.s.

    a. i know starting off with realplayer clips is the suck, but they want to do this as easily and cheaply as possible

    b. i belive they are encoded as realplayer 10 or 9, at 385kbps.

    agent, we like ot think of it as favors that are owed to us by a bunch of metal bands we got on mtv with there videos, lol!!!

  • interesting….i do believe that we are allowed to have “usable backup copies of our dvds” though, i believe it was ruled that way.

    as far as infringing on macrovision, i can see why they would be upset, but i can also see where the movie industry, if they could sell twice the discs they would be angry about the copy rule.

    i can see how this opens them up to piracy, so perhaps instead of suing each others pants off, they figure a way to make this happen legally and to each others benefit.

    have u repaired permissions, and downloaded the most recent compressor, osx updates?

    i had all sorts of problems, did that, now it works like a charm.

    what i should do is the following,

    get some fancy blue lights and put them behind my system, so when my client hates the edit, i can flick a switch and mesmorize them!!!

    client: umm, can you crossdissolve that.

    ben: crossdissolve, are we editing daytime television?

    client: umm, i want a crossdissolive

    client falls asleep sleeping showtunes.

    i think, and i hope a lot of you are behind me on this,

    as long as what you have works, works, is all that matters.

    no one will(hopefully) ever watch your final edit and go,

    i can you used a nice medea array on that job, NICE!

    so build/buy a system that works for you, test it well, and EDIT!
