A simple restart of AE cured the malady. I really should take the advice I always give to others (restart!). Thanks Kevin

I use Compressor for 5D footage. If you happen to have Final Cut Studio this is also a good option.

I use the HQ Pro Res preset or the Proxy preset depending on what I am doing.

Hey the only format for this video is Web.

The footage was converted to Apple ProRes (Proxy) before editing.

Does AE have a built in method for removing flicker?

thanks, reshooting is an option as this is no budget.

We shot on a 5D at 30fps. There was a digital billboard in the background. I am not sure if digital billboards are everywhere like they are in Los Angeles, but its basically a giant video screen shaped like a billboard…

I was aware of the flicker happening so I also shot with different shutter speeds and have a few shots that are flicker-free, but my favorite billboard shot was at 1/60

I’d still like to test out some flicker removal techniques – the shots that need to be de-flickered are mostly 1 second shots….

any filters I should read up on?

I created a New Solid and pasted the bezier directly from AI.

Cool i will give this method a shot. When I say opening titles I mean just titles – vector text with a simple blur/fade out. I plan on just exporting the clips with alpha channels so they can be added to the online.

Hey Mike

I tried hitting cancel this morning and it worked. The problem is I have imported via telecine logs and I was not watching the computer while this happened.

I now have half a feature digitized and random clips are out of sync.

What’s your plan? I am going to try and get in touch with someone at Sony about replacing this deck as it is only 1 month old….what a good time this will be.

You may be on to something……

I recently purchased a new Sony deck and since then I have been getting those weird ‘Validating Audio’ windows that ruin the sync. It happens randomly.

I had a hunch that it was the deck, which is a shame because I just spend a lot of money on it.

My deck is a Sony HDV one…

I never had any problems with the DSR-11 though……
