Sorry, I am a bit confused. Will give a bit more background. I am involved in a volunteer run cinema. We have a full digital cinema set-up and show films from DCPs. We also run other events such as a bring your own film night (like a open mic night). For this people bring a variety of file types (lots H.264, prores and other quicktime flavours). I was looking for something for playout for this type of event and came across ‘Axel You Play’. We are using a Blackmagic Mini Monitor card to connect to the projector via SDI. The problem is it seem to be sending the audio to the card also (cant find a way of routing it to the sound card). I think it must be sending it to the cards HDMI output. Was thinking of trying to get a box to extract the audio from the HDMI.
So was trying to find someone who understands the software and how it is used. The piece of software you linked to may be great but is way above our merger budget (whitch we kind of spent on the card).

Interesting thread. VLC no longer seems to work with Desklink cards, or if it does everyone on the forum wont admit it.
Vargas have limited H.264 support so that is not a goer for us.
Resolve is an interesting solution, we have a powerful computer but old graphics cards.
Has anyone found any other good options?

It is being played back in cinemas with full surround so it not a set-up question, its a 5.1 mixing question.
Was wondering if it was worth trying or would just be too weird.

Première seems to handle the mixed framerate/frame size footage fine. We watched the whole thing (24fts) on a 2k projector and it looks fine. What had actually been done was everything had been converted to 24fts DNxHD (it was actually a highish bitrate mp4 we we watched. This is not the issue.
The issue is that we now need to grade and create a 24 and 25 fts version (2k cinema/DVD). The project involved 70 artists and film-makers each making 1 minute segments which are then edited (sequenced being a better word). none know anything about the others except they are a single shot. This is to raise money for a volunteer run cinema in Bristol,UK called The Cube. The DVDs have to be good because part of the funding was to sell 70 limited edition DVDs.
So my question is should we (a) go back to the originals, export a 25fts version, grade that and then use the 25fts version and downscale to 24.
Or (b) grade at 24 and up scale to 25 to get the two versions.
Or (c) Grading the mixed frame-rate/framesize material in Resolve may be another option. Can it then export individual clips in there original frame-rate or can we export a 24 and 25fps version.
Lastly am I worrying unesseserily. Will the final quality of the DCP and DVD bothe bee fine, its not as if its Red or Arri footage (it is a mixture ranging from smart-phone to prores.

Any class 10 card is fast enough. Sandisk extreme are 45/MB/s, Extreme Pro 90MB/s. The only real difference is how quick you can transfer the card onto your computer (assuming you have a decent USB3 card reader, Cheap ones cam be under 10MB/s). For me the extra money for the pro ones is not worth it. Kingston also make some reasonably fast cards and they are a good make, I use them sometimes.

I think the Avid license is good for two machines that are not being used at the same time (but don’t quote me on that).
If it’s a legit sale of 6.5 (and the seller has deactivated all their installs) then I assume you’d be able to upgrade to Avid 8. If you do it before the end of the year it will only be $299.”
OK, ime slightly confused. You say you must upgrade each time a new version comes out or you have to pay full price but 6.5-8 is surely more than one version (I thought there was a 7).
