Well I just now tried it, and…..
Crap!! I have a split second black frame every so often. It seems like it is a pattern of black frames. Like the missing frames are now black.

So, I finally got the settings correct. But now, by copying and pasting from the 29.97 sequence to 23.98 sequence, all of my edits have been pushed, or pulled a large amount.
And I think I am understanding it correctly, By taking the 29.97 sequence (which I don’t think it matters that they are 23.98 originally, they are now 29.97 because they have been rendered a hundred times in a 29.97 sequence), so now that they are in the 23.98 sequence, each in/out point has been pulled back 5.99 frames each time.
Damn! Could this be correct? Well I don’t have time to ask. I am now trying something else and please respond if you have any comments or suggestions at all.
I am now exporting the sequence as a QT mov at as DVCProHD 23.98. Maybe this will work? I don’t know. Then I will try to import this back into a new sequence for the final.
Jeremy, thanks again for your response. If any one else has ever had this issue or any suggestions please let me know.

All of this footage was shot with the HDX900. But the footage was captured into FCP with the Firestore. I can’t think of the maker, but tapeless Firestore 100. So, recapturing is not an option, nor do I think it is needed. The footage is 23.98, it is only the sequence that is 29.97.
But yes, with FCP 6 asking if you want it to build the sequence according to the first clip dropped into the timeline, I think the former editor most of put a 29.97 clip, from somewhere, and viala, 29.97 sequence. And 2 months later here I am. And also with FCP 6’s open timeline, it allowed it.
I have been doing some test with trying to configure the correct sequence. Is copying and pasting at all possible?

Thank you for your help. I just tried adding a second shatter effect and set the render to pieces. Only now, the logo breaks into many little pieces that make up the big pieces. Not sure if that makes since. The larger chunks of glass are now broken up into little pieces.
This is not what I need. I am trying to get the big chunks of glass in tact, then with a good amount of smaller pieces to add to it.
Is there an order that this effects need to go in. I’m sure I am just not doing something simple. Also, when I set the repitition for the small pieces effect, there are too many pieces of glass. The size is what I need, but not the quantity.

Well, I have found some more interesting information. The sequence in question, it’s Editing Timebase is 29.97. The other 27 spots that the company, a travel video company, is working on, has an Editing Timebase of 23.98.
So I changed my Video Playback setting to: AJA Kona 1080i29.97 8 Bit (1920×1080)…
And bam! I got playback. But now, should I be concerned about this sequence, which again is the Main project (It is a compilation of the other 27 resorts). Should I be concerned that it’s 29.97 when all of the other ones are 23.98.
Again, I just now took over on this project that was previously edited by a student who had to go back to school. I’m just trying to see what I should be prepared for.

Wow, I can’t believe this thread is looking like I am talking to myself, but well, I guess I am.
Anyway, I have just done another test, by copy and pasting the entire sequence into another new sequence (not nesting, literally selecting all the clips, cmd-c, open test sequence and cmd-v)
And what do you know, the video plays back fine. This is weird. Is this a way to do this? Do I loose something very important by copy and pasting an entire project? Or is this fine, and if it works it works?

O.K., I believe I the system is working in 8bit, since that is the only setting that I can get any video. But for some reason still, it will not play the Video, only show the current frame paused or stopped. And this is still only in this one sequence. Which is of course, the one sequence that is our main project.

Thank you for your help. I was wrong about the format. The footage is 1080i, 23.98. I am just getting my feet wet with the AJA, is there a way to know whether I’m working in 8 bit, 10 bit, or RGB? The setting as of now is 8bit and I am not having any luck.
Also, there are several other sequences that are working perfectly, only this bigger one is giving me problems.
No luck as of yet but thank you for your help and please let me know if you have any other advise.

Thank you for your response again. I have been trying to print a “layout” or “capture card” whatever you call it when you have multiple pictures on one page. But for some reason I can’t get it to work. All Preview lets me do is view one picture.
I was able to get each image to size that I wanted, put I can’t get all of the pictures onto one page.

Don’t have photoshop. There is some way to do it with FCP and the standard programs from apple, but I can’t figure out how. It didn’t feel good when he said that it is a very simple process and I can’t figure it out.
The main thing that I need is to find out how to reduce the size of each still and be able to put them on the same piece of paper. Actually tonight, all I need to do is a Print Preview.
