I once asked a production company owner what they thought about being certified in FCP. He said that if an editor told him that he was certified, he probably wouldn’t hire them because he was certified. The owner said that it would be a sign that the editor was just a button pusher with out any skill.

But is there an extra cost when it comes to producing HD verses SD? I mean, if you’re cutting with FCP, editing HD footage is a breeze.
I know that there is more hard drive space and actually purchasing the HD cameras or renting them. But the quality of the end product is so much greater, even if you are just shooting HD and delivering in SD

The 170 is an awesome camera. But P2 is an expensive route (I have the HVX).
I would look into the Panasonic HMC150.

I would say stop thinking of sony. Too expensive. I have been intrigued by the JVC, but have set my eyes more on the HMC150.
But more than that, I am really interested in the Panasonic Lumix. The ability to have that amazing dof and shoot hrs of footage. Wow.
Has anyone gotten their hands on the Lumix?

I’m using the VIDLED LED light (https://www.vidled.com). Of course, I have never seen or heard of anyone else ever using it. It’s really light and lasts for ever with it’s own battery. Although, I was pretty stupid for buying the “coolLED” version which is 8000k, so I always have to knock it down in every reception location to match the tungsten. Someday I’d love to get me the “warmLED”, which is what I’d recommend.

I’m using the Sennheiser EW100ENG G2 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Kit. How does that rank up with your thoughts. I know it’s no Lectrosonics though. 🙂
Also, which Lectrosonics are you using? I’m sure we’d all love to know.
Thanks Mark! 🙂

Ok great! It looks like the rockports are the way to go.
Does anyone suggest a good place to get them at? Either online or a retail store at malls?
Thanks again for everyones input!! 🙂
