Once again Floh, you are correct. I just assumed that they would be bundled into a single download like on the install disk and then usable on both systems, but they are not. I have asked Dave C. to post them on the Support Download website before the end of the week.

    Jenny,

Download the sw trial version and use it on your next project. It is fully functional until it times out and should allow you to work with your existing Media 100 media (or media captured with iMovie). The price will be under $1k when it ships in Q4.

To get a sense of all the new features and functions on Media 100 HD, go back to the website and click on the button for the Media 100 Interactive tour. Sit back and enjoy the particularly smooth voice over talent 😉

BTW where did you look first on the website for the info on the new products that you could not find the product info you wanted?

June 6, 2005 at 6:47 pm in reply to: Floh is a One Man Tech Department: Kudos To Floh!!!

At Media 100 we know that Floh is worth his weight in gold. Thank goodness he does it for free because we could never pay him what he is really worth!

I guess he gets some payback from the fact that we listen very carefully to what he has to say and trust his technical expertise completely. His input also helps us set priorities as well as find and solve bugs. Kudos to the Cow too for letting him host.

    Ashley,

We are working hard to continue to offer value and innovation to the Media 100 installed base as well as to new users. To see our roadmap go back and read the press releases since the re-organization in January

    Dave,

We have just hired Beth to follow up with all of the people who expressed interest in Media 100 at NAB. She has worked as an editor and does understand video and NLE, but she is new to telemarketing. Please be as patient with her as you would like people to be with you during your first week on the job. Thanks.

    Sincerely,

    Michael,

Are you saying that you want to master to HDV? What outlets are requesting this as a deliverable? My guess is that if you don’t have a specific request for HDV masters you will not have any in the near future either. Why wouldn’t you rent the highest quality deck you could afford for one day as part of the HD finishing process? Or WM9 or H.264 on DVD-ROM, HD-DVD by the end of the year, a better looking SD DVD? There are ways to go out HDV (Lumiere HD, Miranda, Design Concepts), but if you don’t have to, then why compromise your final quality that way?

If you work at a higher res than HDV your results will look better (CC, graphics, animations, etc.). And of course it is just a matter of time before the HDV decks use HD-SDI… so never say never!

    MIke,

Mike and I are going to test this out after NAB, but as far as I can see now, there is no reason this wouldn’t be a great solution for Media 100 HD and i owners. It takes the FW output of the decks and converts to SDI along with the deck control converting to RS-422.

Having external hardware will guarantee that you get the conversion in RT and then you can pick the highest quality CODEC you want.

We’ll keep you up to date as to the testing status.
