In case you haven’t noticed, Floh Peters is perhaps the best thing Media 100 has going here at this forum.

From what I understand, he’s a hard-cuttin’, customer-listenin’, computur-usin’ guy like the rest of us with Media 100 systems. He doesn’t work for Media 100, just uses and troublehoots the thing like the rest of us, cranking out pictures and sounds for needy clientele.

But Floh is not like the rest of us. He responds to most of the posts here as if all he ever did was monitor this forum, and I am amazed at the depth and breadth of his knowledge, patience, and intuition into all things Media 100.

I think we should all give Floh a big round of applause and be thankful. We may not have the most progressive hardware and software company behind our editing systems today, but we’ve got Floh on our side.

    Thank you, Mr. Peters.

    Sincerely,
    Mike Laur

    Well said Mike.

Although I hope that most of the Media 100 cow users recognized this long ago!!
I have often wanted to response to a particular post, only to be writen-faster, better, and more percise by Floh.

Just as a point of clarification, while Floh is not on any Media 100 payroll, I’m sure he has, in the past, recieve some money from Media 100 as a consultant/demo artist/etc. He was the main demo guy for Media 100 844x roll out at NAB, 3 years ago. Purple hair and all. This shouldn’t take anything away from the amazing contributions that Floh has made around here. But just so you know.

Again, Hooray for FLOH!! (I’d say something in German if I knew any)

    Todd,
to clarify the clarification, although I knew pretty early about 844/X and we were the first beta site worldwide that received a 844/X and a Media 100 HD system I only did some local 844/X demos and trainings here in Germany and NEVER had Purple hair!!! And I don

    Floh,
    thanks for clarifying.
Sorry, Thought it was you at NAB. Not too many German’s with long hair who know 844x.

Surpirsed that you’ve never gotten paid from Media 100? You deserve it!

Thanks for all your help thougth the years.

    It’s true!

The amount of positive PR Media 100 has gotten from the un-paid Floh is incalculable. My hope is M100/Optibase at least recognizes and occasionally acknowledges that to him. That being said, I too appreciate his willingness to constantly share his time and incredible knowledge in a very non-threatening / non-ridiculing / almost “comforting” manner.

    Thanks Floh!

I’m buying Media 100 HD (upgrading actually from 7.03) partly because of the fabulous Floh but also because it is really the best system around! It is so versatile, especially with one of the two ‘magic’ boxes (Miranda or Convergent Design) to take in HDV and then edit either in DV or HD. Floh, do you approve of this route for HDV? I don’t have to wait for firewire with the box.

At Media 100 we know that Floh is worth his weight in gold. Thank goodness he does it for free because we could never pay him what he is really worth!

I guess he gets some payback from the fact that we listen very carefully to what he has to say and trust his technical expertise completely. His input also helps us set priorities as well as find and solve bugs. Kudos to the Cow too for letting him host.
