Convergent Design will formally unveil HDV-Connect, an HDV to HD-SDI converter at NAB next week. If you want to work with HDV video this is an excellent tool to transfer this footage directly into a Media 100 system via HD-SDI.

Unique features of this box include:
    HDV and DV Support
RS-422 to 1394 translation with the ability to drive the HDV/DV deck from the PC
    Reference-In for compatibility with Routers
    DVI Output

Mike, good to hear this but what about firewire? At present my media goes in/out this way with machine control as well. Also most Media 100 users are on Mac, will this be OK?

    MIke,

Mike and I are going to test this out after NAB, but as far as I can see now, there is no reason this wouldn’t be a great solution for Media 100 HD and i owners. It takes the FW output of the decks and converts to SDI along with the deck control converting to RS-422.

Having external hardware will guarantee that you get the conversion in RT and then you can pick the highest quality CODEC you want.

We’ll keep you up to date as to the testing status.
