Hey Johnny – if you are need of a post house to master your HDCam project we can do it but we are in Sydney Australia. I do a lot of indi stuff for festivals and its only really been the last 18 months that they take HDCam.
Recently we did some that came to us on HDV and we just dubbed them to HDCAM using our converter. Also we did one that came as XDCAM so I just put it on the EX1 and did a restore media and played it direct from the camera to HDCAM.

Why not take your final project to a post house with FCP and digibeta facilities. I can do it for you if you are in Australia.

We use a Sony grade 1 standard definition CRT monitor connected to the component outputs and a Plasma HD connected to the HDMI.
When we want to see accurate colours we refer to the grade 1 SD monitor as colour is colour regardless of resolution.
It is a misconception that people have that if you go HD you have to toss all your SD stuff; not true as the HD monitor in the edit suite is really there to show off to your clients but the engine room can do without it!

Does the card show up in ‘about this mac’ “PCI CARDS”? Make sure the MBE is connected as well when you do this.

the ‘n’n key is a toggle – I want an absolute ‘off’ no matter what. Just like the option key will immediately select a node without having to go find the button

Well thats what I have to do now but it would be so much easier to single key DISABLE ala command key hold down while scrubbing

Hey Donovan, yes that is the theory but I look at things in a more simplistic way; if a screen can take a HDMI signal and allow it to be displayed no mater what, then ‘someone’ will sooner or later apply that algorithm to a ‘black box’ somehow.
The fact of the matter is that if a domestic screen can do it surely a product that can take a HDMI signal to ‘record’ it should be able to do it. Furthermore, ‘rolling keys’ are hackers favorite challenges isn’t it?

We have been using the analog HD component outputs of the BR player to achieve Blu-ray to timeline functionality.
Many people say analog is a dirty word but it is a means to an end and furthermore, HD component was the only VTR interface to screens when they were first introduced and it is still included today with most models.As a side issue, other brand HDMI capture devices like the Matrox MXO2 also will not strip off the media management so lets all wait for someone to hack a PS3 or something.
