Hi George
Thanks for your advice.
This seems to happen every time I upgrade. I get terrible stalls and delays etc. Eventually, I figure out what is the problem. Last time (ver 15) someone helped me by telling me to turn off “close media files when not active” https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/1021165
This time what happens is that if I only have one video and audio on timeline, it works fine.
But I usually need to stack 3 other long audio files and sync them (other mics, recording comedy audiences)
Once I do that, forget it. When I first hit the space bar, I might have to wait 60 seconds or more before it will start. Then it gets a bit better BUT still will stop for 30 seconds almost any time I move the curser at all.
To be clear, I have multiple video clips and then 3 dig audio files that are 3-4 hours long, maybe 250 mb each. It appears that my cpu is usually at 85% when this happens.
When I first upgraded it was usable but still had a lot of these stalls, I’m pretty sure it’s since I’ve added 2 more audio files is when it went south.
– rebooted a million times
– I removed all plugins
– I completely removed and reinstalled vegas 16 into a fresh subdirectory
– I’ve tried cutting everything down so the file is only about 5 minutes (only one of the 4 gig videos) and the 3 additional audio files (they are a full 4 hours long, I’d have to cut them into pieces for them to be smaller) When I do this I remove everything from the timeline so it’s just the 4 files.
– I’ve tried to recreate this from a fresh file in case of corruption. When I put the video file in… everything is fine. When I put any of the other audio files in it gets worse and worse. not sure if that means my cpu can’t handle it.
My computer Intel Core i7-6700k CPU @ 4.0 ghz 4.01ghz
but I have 24 gb of ram
63 bit OS windows 10 home
I do appreciate any suggestions.
