That’s the infamous mac “glitch” that occasionally happens. We think that it’s related to putting a card in a Mac (or connecting the camera as a card reader to the Mac) while the cards are not write-protected. *Never* allow a P2 card near a Mac without being write-protected.
The footage on your cards is good, it’s the Mac transferring the footage that glitches it. You can try re-importing if you still have the footage on the cards.

Your footage will almost certainly mount on a Windows system. The P2 Store occasionally doesn’t mount its volumes on a Mac, but it *always* mounts them properly on Windows.
So just change the P2 Store to Windows mode using the three-button press sequence, then plug it into a Win system and copy the volumes off. Convenient? No, but it’ll salvage your footage.

Over/undercranking is only allowed in 720p mode, which is an entirely progressive mode. 1080 is recorded in an interlaced system, and so is 480. 720 is all-progressive, all-the-time, so varying the frame rate is easy to do in 720.
You can get overcranking and undercranking in DV mode if you use the dub-to-tape feature; shoot your offspeed clip in 720p mode, then dub down from the card to the tape and it’ll preserve the slow-mo or fast-mo nature of the footage.

The HPX500 always processes 1920×1080 internally. It then downrezzes to the recording format.
When recording 720, it records 960×720.
When recording 1080, it records 1440×1080@50i/25p, or 1280×1080@60i/30p/24p.

Don’t use 24p mode with 18dB; it doesn’t work. It works in 30p, 60p, 60i, etc. but not in 24p mode.
