Thanks Jake! You saved me!!! I had a 16 gig card with footage I had to get to a client, and when nothing else seemed to work (I had scoured forums, blogs, etc. and compared file structures to see where something went awry – but to no avail)… you came through with a hint of gold.

I had a few clips with question marks and it’s been so long since I shot it that I have no idea what those 4 minutes or so contain, and neither will my clients 🙂

Thanks for sharing your solution with us!

June 30, 2010 at 9:52 pm in reply to: final cut export problem

I have been having the same issue with pink appearing whenever there is a cross-dissolve to black (or transparent/nothing on the timeline) upon export. The interesting thing I’m coming across is that exporting to ProRes 422(HQ) looks fine; I’m only having issues with H.264 compressions I’m making for the web.

I’m having this issue with two projects, one of which is also 23.98 sequence (actually, almost the exact same sequence settings as original post).

If you come across anything, please let me know! I’ll do the same once I find an explanation or solution.

    Thank you!

December 1, 2007 at 12:05 am in reply to: FCP to Flash – workflow suggestions?

    Thanks David,

Though on the Flash Video Encoder, I can choose from On2 VP6 or Sorenson Spark. I have been using the On2 as I read good things about it (and you just confirmed).

I think I’ll give Santiago’s suggestion a try with using the DVCPRO settings that the project was created with as the export method, then try encoding again.

    Thanks,
    Barrett

    Thanks Santiago,

Unfortunately, I don’t have AE CS3. Only AE 6.0. I should have mentioned that I’m somewhat new to FCP, and very new to Flash.

Santiago, when you say you export a QT using the Sequence settings, which settings are you referring to? I am working with DVCPRO NTSC, but I don’t seem to have that as a QuickTime export option, though I do have DVCPRO PAL… which I find odd. If I leave it at “Current Settings” will that use the Sequence settings??

Are there any particular settings/codecs that anyone has had good luck with keeping text looking really sharp?

    Thanks!

  • Thanks Gary,

Is it possible to better control the color profiles somehow? Can you recommend any settings that may keep the color/brightness closer to the original FCP project? Is YUM only in Flash, or can I adjust the workspace color profile in FCP to match it?

As for the text, I may be able to go slightly larger (they are disclaimers for my company, so space is an issue). The resulting FLV will be used on web only, so will it still help to soften the text slightly? I found that deinterlacing the file made the text much worse (at least on computer monitor), so I’m no longer using that option. Any other setting recommendations that might help to limit distortion to text?

    Thanks again.

November 15, 2007 at 8:55 pm in reply to: Title 3D upgrade catastrophe

I recently had what seems like similar errors coming up regarding Title 3D. After searching around, I came across something (maybe on Apple’s forum, can’t remember) that worked for me. It involved doing the following:

Go to Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins

Then copy the following to your desktop:
    Text Scrambler.bundle
    Title 3D.bundle
    Vector Shape.bundle
    Title Crawl.bundle

Then in Get Info, change the .bundle to .plugin on each file. Replace these into the Plugin folder.

These simple steps did resolve my issues. Not sure if yours are the same, but this may be worth a try for you. Good luck!
