Title 3D upgrade catastrophe
About 15 months ago I created a 1 hour TV show that is filled with text/titles that i created in Title 3D. I am 90% sure this was in FCP 5.12.
Today I got great news … a European broadcaster wants to air the show too… wow, am I stoked! I just need to make a few tweaks at their request.
I open the project and it asks if I want to upgrade the project… I click OK… the project opens perfectly except that all the TEXT created in TITLE 3D is missing.
The clips are still there…. but when I double click the “TITLE 3D” in the controls window, I get this message
“These settings are not compatible with this version of Title 3D”
Of course I have come up with a few solutions
1. re type all the text (ug I wanna puke on myself)
2. cut and copy from the QT export (still wanna puke)I really just want a REAL solution..
I am current;ly using FCP 5.14… did this upgrade fook me?

After it asked if you want to upgrade the project did you save tghe project? Or do you by chance have a copy of the old version saved to another drive?
If so, open and when it asks if want to upgrade the project answer “NO” and see if your text files are as you wish.

Hi David,
When i click “NO” the project does not open. It just closes out the project and FCP opens without a project or reverts to the last opened project.

I suggest swinging by the Boris FX forum here at the Cow. Boris is often there answering questions himself, as are product managers and support folks. They’ll definitely know what’s up.

I recently had what seems like similar errors coming up regarding Title 3D. After searching around, I came across something (maybe on Apple’s forum, can’t remember) that worked for me. It involved doing the following:
Go to Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins
Then copy the following to your desktop:
Text Scrambler.bundle
Title 3D.bundle
Vector Shape.bundle
Title Crawl.bundleThen in Get Info, change the .bundle to .plugin on each file. Replace these into the Plugin folder.
These simple steps did resolve my issues. Not sure if yours are the same, but this may be worth a try for you. Good luck!
