Make sure you turn OFF color management in Photoshop.
And you may want to stay away from grain in Photoshop, and instead add it in After Effects. That way you get animated noise instead of static noise.

Try setting the project to 16-bit, and see if your preview resolution is set to ‘half’.

I’m pretty sure that that’s not what was meant.
I think they meant something like this: as a COMPRESSED codec that will play from a single hard drive, there’s nothing that beats the Cineform codec.
So at a tiny loss of image quality (hardly visible) you gain a lot in workflow.

No, not true. There’s just a limited choice in graphics boards that support it. But the nVidia 6600 – 6800 and 7800 should do fine, just as the Quadro FX 4500.

It says that the ATI Radeon 9600 doesn’t support high-fidelity previews in AE 7.0: “Does not provide OpenGL previews for anti-aliasing or 2D motion blur.”
The nVidia board should definitely produce better results.

Is it going to be a locked off shot, or is the camera going to be moving?
If the camera is going to be moving, how much will it move?
In most cases, you can actually get by with 2D elements. It’s a lot of work rendering photorealistic elements from 3D apps. You do however need to make sure you get photos of the building from the right angle, with the right lighting etc.
Once you know more about the specific shot, (maybe even a storyboard drawing and description of the action) we’ll be able to give more specific advise.
But I’d try to avoid rendering 3D for this one. Takes too much time.
