I am experiencing Mac woes as well. After authoring my dvd in Encore CS5 Windows, it plays great on both the PC and on a dvd player. However, once I pop it into my Mac, it don’t have the same luck. I have a 5 second intro that plays into the main menu (motion bg). It’s here that the buttons become functional and the video and audio loop for 30 seconds. During the first loop on my Mac, the buttons work fine. But after the first loop, the button highlights are no longer functional. This is not the case on the PC and dvd player as mentioned before.

I’ve tried countless combinations of settings (not to mention hours of researching), and still no luck. Feeling a bit confused at this point. 😛

Perhaps this isn’t completely related to the original post’s problems. But seeing as this thread concerns Mac specific issues, I’m hoping that maybe someone could share some insight on these peculiar problems?

    Thanks! 🙂

I know this thread is really old, but it’s one of the top results. So, here’s my solution (I’m using CS4): Edit -> Preferences -> Memory and Multiprocessing. From here you can check on the “Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously” check box and then adjust the slider to allocate memory usage between “Longer RAM Preview” and “Faster Rendering”. If you want to have better RAM previews before you render, slide the slider closer to the Longer RAM Preview side. This worked for me! 🙂

I’m importing uncompressed avi’s. I’m also rendering out uncompressed avi’s after my edits.

I’m using CS4. I’ve tried out my project on two different machines (CS4 on both), and I get the errors on both. Here are the RAM’s for each computer: 2.98GB and 3.00GB.

It’s also worth noting that I’ve done a lot of editing with a plethora of video types/containers (including uncompressed avi’s), and I’ve never had this issue before.

    Thanks for the replies! 🙂

Well, I’m seeing it in the RAM preview. Any thoughts on the what I can do/what the problem is?

Thanks, but I got it working. I don’t think After Effects was having the problem. I’m not sure how it happened, but I needed to download some codecs.

I don’t claim the safety of this link, but I know that it worked for me and my computer seems fine to me. Avi Codec Pack Pro 2.4 did the trick:

Thanks. Yeah, I did have a back up. However, I managed to import the file I force quit into another AE file. However, it appears that the movie files are having trouble when I render (in the new file). Is this is a sign of corruption?:

After Effects error: File “Xxx.wmv” cannot be opened, it may be in an unsupported format. (86 :: 1)

The movie files were working fine before.
