Now I made a new project and started from scratch with the material moved to another firewire HD.

    And everything workes fine now.

Now I tried to set it up via easy setup

    A/V settings
sequence preset : BM pal 8bit
Capture preset : MB pal 8bit
Device control preset : Pal 25Hz
Video playback : BM pal 8bit
    Audio playback : Decklink audio

    Sequence settings :
    Frame size : 720×576
    Aspect ratio : CCIR 601 / DV pal 5:4
Pixel aspect ratio : Pal CCIR 601
    Field dominance : Lower
    Timebase : 25

    Quicktime video settings:
    Compressor : Uncompressed 8 bit
    Quality : 100%

The material captured is CCIR 601 pal and has a upper field. I trid to set the field in the sequence to upper, but I still get a red line. The material captured has a compressor – uncompressed 8bit 4:2:2

So, I still get the red line. Everything seems to be ok.

Wouldent it be better to use a codec uncompressed rather that BM? If I have to send some clips to Shake or other programs.

Ok, I get the thing about not using the system HD. I can just use the firewire HD but it is a little slower. Otherwise I will buy a new internal HD for editing SD.

Hope that you can help me.

    Thanks David, Enzo

I don’t want to go to the post house 3 times. Only 2 times. One to convert the Digibeta tape to QT files. And one for a TV master.

So I want to convert the material from SD into DV via software in FCP or compressor? I have about 40 minutes of material. And it’s a really good idea to burn in the TC – so I will be shure that it’s the right material I use in the end. How do I convert it the easy way with TC burned in???

Thanks for the advise on how to uncheck the sleep function.

What’s the easy way of getting offline DV from the SD uncompressed material?

    Hi,

I get the shutting down of the harddrive after maybe 1 minute of not running anything from it. So it’s all the time.

    Thanks,

Does anyone have experiences with final touch?

    Ok, Thanks.

I’ve searched his website. It seems to be the ‘frames & fields’ you are talking about?

I’m trying to use it right now, but to be honest… I don’t get how ‘generator’ not ‘filter’ works. I’ve tried reading in the manual, but I still don’t get it. It’s not just drag & drop. So, please if you’ve got some time left to spend – give me a super short ‘how to use generator’ lesson.

    Thanks

Well, I already did a search before writing the answer. I did not read anything about how it’s possible to move the garbage matte around to follow an object moving. Only way is to buy the 350usd roto plugin which is very expensive. And maybe it would be nice with a round blur, and garbage matte doesen’t do that. Also I asked a question about which grain plugin is good – maybe it’s a matter of taste, but I would still like if someone would answer this question and maybe do objects blurring in another way.

  • Well, you are certainly right. What I was doing was just dragging the ‘sequence in timeline’ down onto the timeline, and that gave the wrong clipTC. When I hit command F10 it all works out as I want it to.

Thanks for spelling it out for me, now I can do what I want.
