  • Thanks.
Well, my FCP HD does not show me the clips TC when in viewer if I use a sequence. I tried the command F9 and it seems to be a shortcut for inserting a clip from the viewer nested. In the canvas I still get the sequences timecode and not the original clips and I am afraid of messing up the project.

  • I can drag a sequence into the viewer and use it for editing. Even if it is nested clips I’m still only getting the nested sequence timecode and not the original. And I don’t want to nest, I just want to edit from a sequence with selected takes. Ok, I get the thing with nest, and doubleclicking to get the original clip, but thats just a lot of extra work just to use a clip from a sequence.

Does anyone know if the original timecode is lost or what happens if one had to reimport the whole project for whatever reason?

  • Ok, I have just tried this. I used the video filter “timecode generator” and “Timecode reader”. I get the same timecode just bigger on top of the timecode overlay. I still get the timecode of the sequence and not from the original source.

Is it not normal to make a sequence of selected material and edit from that? Or even edit from a sequence that has been edited from a sequence that has been edited from a sequence that has been edited from a sequence 🙂 If I then have to reconnect or mediamanage the material I ofcource need the original timecode.

  • That’s what I have done. I have the timecode overlay on, but I am getting the timecode of the sequence with the selected takes and not the timecode of the original material. Any idea how to solve this?

Well now I am thinking about buying a decklink sp pro card and renting a sony player. But I had the idea before to rent a AJA kit (it’s possible) or paying a posthouse to record my material for me. Is AJA uncompressed, Blackmagic uncompressed and Apple uncompressed the same codec? Are they convertable.

    Hi,

I have a dual 2,5 G5, so it’s fast enough. But my TV set is just an average phillips with no DVI, but scart and phono input.

So there is no other way around it other that buying a IO card?

I run G5 OSX 10.3 – maybe even Tiger when I will do the project.

I’m a newbie, so please guide me like one. I don’t know the software you are talking about, but are they a part of OSX or is it software I have to buy?

Am I able to have the system do it automatically?

    Thanks,

Yes, I mean de-interlacing. When should / can I do that, before or after converting? Will I run into any other problems with the interlace/progressive thing : I have material in 25p, s16 telecined and DV that I want to de-interlace.
