Ok thank you. When you say, ” That move should have been done inside of Premiere using the apps media manager” can you explain that more please? What is that process called? I can research it more, but if you can tell me what it’s called that would be appreciated.

I’ve never done a transfer like that with Media Manager. Just copy and paste.

I have version 13.1.5.

I didn’t import with Media Browser. Never have I just drag and drop the folder usually. Been doing it for years with no issues. Is that what I’m doing wrong?!

Do you mean by doing a manual sync? No that works fine. Just time consuming.

Thanks Alex and Tero. I followed these steps from the link Tero sent:

Settings: as I mentioned, I have “Write XMP ID to Files on Import” and “Enable Clip and XMP Metadata Linking” enabled on both machines, and “Save Media Cache files next to originals when possible” UNchecked on both machines.

After that I reimported the sequence, and the markers were back. Thanks!

I’ve seemed to have fixed the crashing issue now by disabling how often it Autosaves.

The remaining problem now is when playing back the project. At first no issues. As time goes on when I try to playback the project it wont. The video will freeze but audio will play. I can’t scrub through the video at all. The only remedy is to Force Quite Premiere and start over. This happens quite often almost every 20 minutes or more.

Thanks. Conforming with Media Encoder now. Does conforming to Pro Res lower the quality of my footage?

David and Nathan thanks very much. Before upgrading my laptop I will try this.

David what program do you recommend transcoding 4k XAVC files with? I tried compressor and mpeg streamclip and neither could open the files.

Also I’m editing off a 1TB lacie rugged with a standard firewire cord.
