Hi John,
I used that utility first. It has worked for me in the past, but not this time. So I tried DVD Shrink and got the same result. (Audio not in sync with video.) I’m going to table this one for now. I’ll try it with another DVD and see what the results are. Thanks for everyone’s input.

Thanks Jay, I’ve already tried that solution. The opening shot is in sync. As soon as a cut occurs the audio is out of sync with the next talking head. When I sync the audio to that shot, it’s out of sync on the next. Strange but true. The original DVD Plays find, It just doesn’t import correctly. This has worked for me in the pass using both Vegas import and DVD Shrink with other video. This time I can’t get it to work. All I want to do it get it on the timeline to add some additional titles at beginning and end, then use DVD Architech to add a start-up slate. Right now it looks like I’m going to just have to use video capture to acquire the video and audio.
Thanks, August

Thanks John and Jay. I changed the file extension to .mpg and it worked. However the audio is not in sync with video. This clip is only 10 minutes long. I tried using Vegas DVD utility, but I get the same result. Out of sync audio. Any more suggestions besides using video capture.
Thanks, August

It looks as though this problem is unique to you and I. Many others are nothing having the same problems. With the work load I currently have I certainly wished I had waited longer to upgrade to 9a. I am going to try and finish my current jobs this week. My plan is to reformat and reinstall my system drive next week provided it holds up that long. Thanks for the input, I’ll let you know what happens.

Hi Paul,
I’ve been using Vegas since version 5 and have never had any problems
with it’s operation. Now with Pro 9 I am experiencing all the problems your having plus more. I recently posted the problem of lost text with pro titler. Additional problems include the jerky preview, as well as freezing up. Just tonight while using Vasst Ultimate 4 all the frames in the timeline turned red. I also enjoyed being able move about the timeline while the preview was playing. Now most any action like scrolling left or right the system just stops. Also, in previous versions frames of video could be seen on each of the timelines. Now they are all blank. So many quirky things are happening, I can’t even keep up with them. Keep us posted if you hear of any solutions. If anyone else have suggestions, please add to this post. If it’s of any use my system consists of a Intel Quad Q9550 2.83ghs proc. 4 gig mem,
system drive, 2 work drives, 2 additional storage drives. Nvidia Quadro FX1500. -
Thanks for the quick response Mike. I guess I’ll Have to have wait for a fix.

Thanks John, The Dolby ac3 Pro is back. Can’t say what I did, but it’s available again. I had already installed Architech Pro. So I’m at a loss as to what was going on.
Thanks again,

Steve, thanks for the input a few days ago. I got sidetracked on other projects and did’nt get a chance to respond. It seems John has a similiar problem with ProType. If it is indeed a corrupt font it is inconsistent and doesn’t alway occur with the same font. I also do not have any problem using the old sony titler nor any other software using the same font base. Since most of the crashes occur while scrolling through the font list with Pro TYPE ,I work around the problem by looking for the font that I want using the old Sony titler. Then carefully select the font in Pro Type. Again, thanks for your help, and John if you find a solution let us know.
Thanks,

Hey John, Thanks for the video historical review. It was good to find out that there are few in this forum that experienced video even before there was color tv. Until Hurricane Katrina hit in August of 2005 I still had A Sony 1 inch editing vcr with insert and assemble editing, a Sony DXC5000 camera, and the portable Sony Rover with 1/2 deck all of which were purchased in 1971. There all gone with the wind now. However, I did find the Sony Rover camera buried in the mud.
