I have been using Vegas pro since pro 6 was introduced, I have been using pro8 since that was introduced and I have never had a problem with it. Now all of a sudden when I do anything in the timeline it’s as if vegas is having a hard time reading the footage or the effects and it looks kinda choppy. As I said this just started happening is there a way to find out if maybe another program is conflicting with vegas? or why this is happening all of a sudden?

What kind of video is it? If it’s from the same camera that work fine before, try system restore to before it started. Hope this helps, Danny

The problem isnt he footage or the timeline, I found out when I have the preview box in “full” it looks like this… but when I have on “half” it looks fine. Is there a reason why having the setting to full would cause that?

Looks like what? Preview window set to best/full is always choppy on any computer, never 30 frames per second. Preview/auto is where most leave it as it’s still pretty clear and gives you many more frames per second. If you want you can send me a small clip so I can see what it looks like on my computers.

Looks choppy or as if it’s having a hard time reading the footage…
that must be it then, I had preview on full and as you said it a frame issue in full preview. Auto and half looks great.

Try the preview (auto) preset. I switch between several depending on what I need to see. Danny

    Hi Paul,

I’ve been using Vegas since version 5 and have never had any problems
with it’s operation. Now with Pro 9 I am experiencing all the problems your having plus more. I recently posted the problem of lost text with pro titler. Additional problems include the jerky preview, as well as freezing up. Just tonight while using Vasst Ultimate 4 all the frames in the timeline turned red. I also enjoyed being able move about the timeline while the preview was playing. Now most any action like scrolling left or right the system just stops. Also, in previous versions frames of video could be seen on each of the timelines. Now they are all blank. So many quirky things are happening, I can’t even keep up with them. Keep us posted if you hear of any solutions. If anyone else have suggestions, please add to this post. If it’s of any use my system consists of a Intel Quad Q9550 2.83ghs proc. 4 gig mem,
system drive, 2 work drives, 2 additional storage drives. Nvidia Quadro FX1500.

I’ve had to uninstall Vegas pro9. Sony came out with an 9.a update so I reinstalled it with the update and saw no improvements. I spent money I really didn’t have to upgrade to Vegas 9 for my business and now I cant even use it! I tried to call sony however tech support wont talk to me unless I buy their tech support plan!!

August you are the first person that I have heard who is having the same problems and even more, everytime I post something no one understands what I’m saying and it can be hard to explain some of this stuff you have to see for yourself. But why is pro9 having so many tech problems! I really like the new layout and the additional effects etc. it really upsets me I cant use it now. I’m going to try and contact sony again and hopefully someone will be kind enough to lend me a helping hand.

It looks as though this problem is unique to you and I. Many others are nothing having the same problems. With the work load I currently have I certainly wished I had waited longer to upgrade to 9a. I am going to try and finish my current jobs this week. My plan is to reformat and reinstall my system drive next week provided it holds up that long. Thanks for the input, I’ll let you know what happens.
