Ah yes. Well, that would be better still, I would think, rather than paying for two separate hardware tools.

Gave this another go last night. No dice. The deck refuses to receive a signal. We are using the Y/R/B cables from the Kona card, but there is no Y/R/B playback setting in FCP’s video playback options.

The Kona Control Panel shows “Downconvert” since our primary format is set to 720p59.94 and the secondary is set to 525i29.97 and our component signal is SMPTE/EBU (we’ve also tried all of the other signal settings).

I apologize for dragging this out, but there must be something fundamentally wrong that I am doing.

Hi Bob,

It appears that the 1402 will only work with the Kona3 via the ADA4 converter. It also will only work as a mixer, and not as surface control. It might be better for me to go with a sort of two-in-one option like a Tascam model.

Am I right in these thoughts, or did I completely misunderstand your post?

Aha. Okay, thanks Ronnyron! It appears that the Tascam FW-1082 would probably be a better way to go.

Thank you for both SO much! So, I can get at least 4 channels of audio with the converter? Fantastic. Would this allow me to also use the mixer as a control surface, or would I need a separate product that combines the two?

Now that is weird. I replied to this hours ago, but my response did not show up. Oh well.

I tried going through every component signal in the Control Panel, but yes, the default setting was SMPTE/EBU…didn’t work.

Sorry for the late reply! Suddenly got slammed!

Yes, I have 720p59.94 in the Primary Format selection, and 525i29.97 in the Secondary Format with the DownConvert box under the Component line.

Got it working! We just scrapped the other codecs and went with Animation.

Ah yes. Thank you for the response!

We have IT coming over in a second to take a look at this. The user is on a Mac, however I neglected to mention that the final product will be for an Avid Media Composer system. I didn’t think this would matter too much due to the fact that we’ll still have to go into After Effects and export that for Avid.
