    hi
try recording with other vcr if u have spare one, pinnacle has an option i will have to install it to tell u what the option is, but there is an option saying something like “record with errors of donot skip on blanks” please try the go in preferences of the recording video
you may find it there, check for fungus on ur vcr of cassette if its a hardware issue it might be because of that.i thing the problem is not with the OS. also check is there any upgrade or new driver for pinnacle for this OS(Snow Leopard)

i would like to know whether this happens with this particular cassette or the problem is with other cassettes too.

if u r using edius or premiere u can go for a capturing card of canopus ACEDVIO if ur format is DV or if ur footage is an HD u should capture through canopus HD capturing cards (visit the site)

or use a matrox RT2 for capturing the footage for optimum quality

please tell me can u see the dv output on the television through premiere(if u have output card please plugin the television and check for it or i think u should reinstall the software and delete the files from ur os root”c:(for example)” /programfiles/commonfiles here u can find ur decoders folder(for eg. Mainconcept) delete all the plugin folders from the program files from the adobe premiere pro folder and then reinstall
or if u have an image of ur OS it will be fast and less complicated there might be a problem while ur os was overwritten some files might have been skipped due the some errors(related to file structureof HDD) while overwriting,
i had similar problems when the OS is overwritten

u need to do a trial and error for this type

while u r capturing just try changing ur camera or the recorder it might have problems (the reason is while capturing sometime the frames r skipped and while u r on the shoot just give some blanks in between the footage which is to be cut and premiere has a facility to cut the footage where the blanks are and premiere or any software captures with the flaws in it but while encoding/exporting this errors cannot be compiled or just cut the part of the video from where the problem starts or capture all of them seperately)

so try this if it dont solve i will give u another option
