No, but at least you’ll get more pci-e slots. Forget installing a rocket card with this config (assuming you have a raid card, which you should)

The best thing Apple could do now is to release OS X for any computer running intel. Legal hackintosh…

The problem with Scratch is that performance wise, compares to a DaVinci for Mac, but costs more than DaVinci for Linux, and not as good though.

What\’s p***ng me off more about Apple is that they stopped listening to creative pros, who were always loyal to Apple, they hinted that with FCS 3 and they confirmed it now with this new MacPro, all they care now is about teenage girls tweeting about the Twilight movies.

the AKA look nice, but there are no keyboard trays, I wonder if the panels will give you room for one.

  • Using Mac Pro octo, Kona 8.0 drivers and FCP 7.0.2, digitizing dual link in Prores 4444 from a HDCAM-SR, blacks are lifted. Blacks are OK when digitizing from HDCAM-SR in single link in ProRes 4444

  • OK, I tried to follow this guide very thoroughly, and after 15 seconds of using it the computer freezes, my explanation was that somehow since this shuttle model has 2 PCI-E x16 slots, this video card may be seen as a video graphics card and not as a video capture card.

Since the author of this post never answers questions regarding technical problem, and not Shuttle nor Blackmagic has a solution for this, don’t waste your money on this config!

I’m trying to buy the SX38p2 pro but so far most of the websites like Tiger Direct or New Egg have it discontinued, and the few that has it are selling it over $350, you mentioned that you bought it from directly from Shuttle, but I cannot find anywhere on their website to do so, all they have are link to resellers that don’t have this model.
So my questions are a) How did you purchase it from Shuttle? and b) If this model is discontinued, what could be a good replacement?

    Thanks!

Thanks you guys for your answers. I tried to do some tutorials in Maya before in I couldn’t keep up with it, it’s not just learning the software, it’s also learning 3D with it, I’m a video editor and colorist and always wanted to get into 3D. I did some intro lessons to Cinema 4D and I love it, but I didn’t know what the big differences were with Maya, I guess Nurbs may be a big one.
I guess I’ll start with C4D and move to Maya when I feel confortable with it.

    Thanks!
