Maybe Blackmagic should make a deal with Nvidia and sell those cards in their own website. I also heard that Nvidia is taking control of the driver development for Mac, I wonder how this fits in the whole equation, but hey, we\’re just mere spectators here

I just order a 120, just in case, I guess I’ll sell the ATI that comes with the new Mac Pros, I’m hoping that I don’t have to sell the 120 because of a newer or better config, we need Resolve NOW!!!

I don’t mind buying a GT120, actually I did buy a 285, what I’m worried is that Resolve hasn’t come up yet, and when it does, who knows what specs are going to be posted, maybe way better than a 120/quadro or 285 config.
Fortunatelly we have some Blackmagic people giving us some answers, and I’m sure whatever it is they can make it work, it’s just the fact of buying equipment that’s going eol for a software that hasn’t come up yet brings a little anxiety and uncertainty to the process.

  • OK, now I’m confused.
First of all, you can’t run Color in a DaVinci setup? So, if my DVI monitor is connected to the GT120,the Quadro or GT285 is doing the math for DaVinci, when you run Color, shouldn’t it be using the GT120?
What happens when you have more than one card?

And how different a hackintosh would be since the software would act thinking it’s a macintosh?

  • If it’s not going to be a Mac Pro then I assume is a Linux machine, in which case don’t even bother configuring it because for what I read in a previous post, the don’t sell it software only, the sell you the whole package, software + hardware.

    Or are we talking Hackintosh?

Do I have to contact a DaVinci distributor for Revival too ($1500 version). Is it software only like Resolve for Mac?

That’s another option, although I’ve never seen it working, I wonder if the performance is the same since basically you’re sharing one pci-e port with many devices.
I’d rather pay the difference in price for an extra port though…

Also it’s a shame to see all the new Blackmagic USB 3 products getting used only on pc…

Actually lots of people where expecting USB 3, blu ray, and extra pci-e slots, and also a realignment of the product line, the octo taking the place of the quad core for that price and so on, that’s how it used to be before. It’s been like 18 months or so since the last update, doesn’t seem that far fetched to expect a new redesign.
