Ah Quick Time…. Apple has to write a ‘re-installer’ or something like that to roll back to a previous version (why would they want to make it easy?)… so Rolling back to a previous version of QT is harder than it sounds, and I don’t think they’ve writen a QT re-installer in a while.
if you have the auto software update manager turned on, turn that thing off now and save yourself future head aches…

when was the last time you tried to contact media 100 about this transfer issue? 2005? That was probably still under optibase.
If you’re in the states, try calling them, this number was on their website 800.922.3220

by way of clarification, Media 100 HD Suite can output 720/60 but it must currently still edit in 1080 – this is using the ‘cross-convert’ capability on the AJA card that comes with HD Suite

“The screen darkens and the message says to restart the computer. ”
That sounds like a OS X kernal panic – How ’bout more of you system details: OS version, QT version, M100 Software Version, Hardware your using etc.
“I was able to export just the video. Then when I tried to export just the audio the computer crashed. ”
sounds like a corrupted audio file – try exporting audio portion of time line in sections (create a range) and see where it crashes, then you may be able narrow it down to the specific audio clip by shrinkig the range that crashes

Tom,
Media 100 Producer only offers DV I/O via FireWire which will be a 4:1:1 Sampled signal- going to Uncompressed from this signal would not really make sense – but Yes, producer and the new m100 Hardware products offer both an 8 bit and 10 bit codec (and you still have 300kb and lossless)
I have some experience with a Canopus ADVC-110 converter with producer, Canopus also makes a component version which is similar. This *should* work with producer.
Producer offers all the software features of the m100’s new product line ( 99 layers, flexible codec support, much much much faster renders ) and is being developed – whereas media 100 i is not.
If DV is 90% of your source, and beta is only occasionally used – I would consider purchasing producer and maybe keeping you older m100 set up for analog captures (and eather/sneaker-neting your files to your producer machine).

Eesh, that’s bad news. Once the demo has time out there’s no way to reset it on the same machine short of a complete OS re install…
I’m not sure how automated their webstore actually is – I ordered RED off it once over a weekend and waited until business hours to get my software unlocked.

Hey Ford,
AJA M100 HDe and HD Suite supports SD and HD embedded SDI audio. M100 HDx does only SD embedded SDI audio.
I’ve seen people on the cow recomend this converter:

Jaeson,
With the Media 100 systems running on the new AJA hardware, yes, FCP and M100 can use the same board. The FCP driver will conflict with the m100 driver, so you need a dual boot system (FCP on one bootable drive and m100 on the other).
If you have an original HDx (optibase) version of media 100, NO, only M100 may use that board.

Canopus makes some decent analog to firewire converters. I have some experince with that AVDC-110 model, that only does S-Video tho, but they do make a model that does component.
Stay away from the ADS “Pyro” converter, i’ve not heard good things about that one.
I think m100 is offering a verion of software that will work with the AJA boards if you already own one, but it’s not producer. I’d give them a buzz and ask what’s available.
