ProRes 4444 can be either RGB or YUV. If you only have YUV, open up your ,b>Audio Visual Preferences, click on the Capture Settings tab, make a duplicate of the capture setting and change the digitizer from YUV to RGB.

If you have a separate alpha channel, delete it.
If this .psd was made on a windows computer, open it in Photoshop and do “Save As” and overwrite it.

This is they kind of thing I’d do in Shake. But since you already have Motion with FC Studio, you might as well try that.
Look up “match move” and “tracking” in your Motion manual. While you’re at it, you could try pulling the keys in Motion, too.

FCP 5 is not compatible with ProRes. That was introduced with FCP 6.
Try transcoding your footage to DVCPro HD. That is compatible with FCP 4.5 and up and is a very high quality codec.

Sounds like a mystery. But have you tried a different card reader?
Also, try copying the contents of a card to a folder on a hard drive, then use L&T. If that works consistently, it could also point to an issue with the reader.

Nick is correct. Most sound mixers and colorists prefer “reels” of 20 minutes or less. Break your film into reels and then create EDL, OMF, etc for each reel.
Reels should break on a hard cut at the change of a scene with no music or dialog running across the cut.

Compressor is really quite good once you learn how to use it properly. If you buy another program for transcoding and conversions, but don’t invest the time and energy to learn to use it you’ll be in the same boat.
Open up Compressor’s PDF manual and print it out and read it. That and some rigorous testing will probably solve your problem.

Does it slip out of sync, or is it constantly out of sync by the same amount?
How do you monitor your picture and sound?
My guess is that your sound is constantly out of sync, and that you’re monitoring your picture and sound through separate paths. If this is the case, your sound has always been out of sync, but the problem with your monitoring setup has hidden this from you.
You should consult your FCP manual to find the diagrams that show how to properly hook up video monitor & speakers to your Mac for editing.

The odd thing is, “bleeping” actually draws attention to the fact that you’re censoring some word. Most people know what that word probably is, so they “hear” it in their heads, anyway.
Another practice, simply dropping out the audio & leaving dead space, is a little less distracting, but it sounds like a mistake,and anyone who’s attentive will, again, hear the censored word in their head.
Dave’s practice of reversing the censored word is the least obtrusive, and the most likely to really bury and obscure it.
