more AVCHD migranes. not the usual!
Hi all,
Before I get down to the gritty bits, i just want to say that I know to capture my avchd through log and transfer, and I’ve already turned off my perian!
My problem, that i am having with two different avchd camcorders (one sony, one panasonic) is that the cards only seem to register randomly in fcp! sometimes when I plug them in, it’s carnival time and i get to do the logging and transferring. most times though, i plug the card in, navigate to the drive in the window, select the appropriate folder and…nothing. select other folders. nothing. unplug, replug drive. nothing. restart. nothing. reopen fcp before i plug in the drive, nothing. nothing makes any difference. just now and then, it works.
I have successfully l’d and t’d avchd on my computers (it happens on both my macbook pro and my imac – both intel core 2 duo) but it’s always this struggle to get started. i run 10.5.8 and fcp 6.0.6 on both machines.
so frustrating!!!
any ideas on this one?

Sounds like a mystery. But have you tried a different card reader?
Also, try copying the contents of a card to a folder on a hard drive, then use L&T. If that works consistently, it could also point to an issue with the reader.
