You can get a Matrox Dual Head2Go or Triple Head2Go. It will allow you to plug 2 or 3 monitors into a single DVI port on your Mac.

[Tristan Olson] ” I don’t want to book an HD Cam deck for the amount of time it will take to create a batch transfer list. “

You can simply make a batch list from the telecine logs that they provide you with when they give you the tape. The logs will be in the form of FLEX or ALE files, maybe both, on a floppy disk. Yes, a floppy disk. Buy a USB floppy disk drive and use Cinema Tools to import the logs and make an FCP batch list and you’ll save your self much grief.

[David Roth Weiss] “I hear the Russian version of Premiere CS4 isn’t that much harder to master than the English version.”

No, but the system requirements include herring and vodka.

On the left hand side of the keyframe editor is a bar that lists all of the values that are keyframed. You may need to select the layer or object to see the proper values. Twirl down the disclosure triangle for a particular item and you can see individual X,Y,Z values. You can change it there.

1st off, you’re going to need a warper. I know that Red Giant makes one for Motion, there may be others. Go to toolfarm.com and search there, they sell a lot of plugins for Motion.

If you hold the shift key while you drag a keyframe it will only move horizontally or only vertically. Or you can cut & paste the keyframe.

[David Roth Weiss] “I have no doubt that Charlie Chaplin would still be making films today using age old technology if he were still alive.”

Chaplin released Modern Times, a silent film in 1936, 9 years after The Jazz Singer broke the sound barrier. But I think he started working on it sometime around 1930, when silent movies were still somewhat current. It wasn’t that Chaplin was a purist or slow to adapt, it’s just that he was slow to finish a film.

FCP 5.0 will not run on an Intel Mac. You’d need to use at least 5.1, which is no longer available. If you’re going to upgrade, you might as well buy the new version of FCP.
