I think it has something to do with a font in Illustrator. I got this message after importing a Illustrator CS2 file into AE. Once I outlined all text in Illustrator the message did not come up. It seems to be a problem with specific fonts (in my case ‘Bliss Bold’), when I changed the font of the offending file there was no problem.
I suspect this was introduced with the latest updates of either AE or Illustrator. Or maybe I never used offending fonts before…

Now I still don’t know what UMID is or where to find it, but i’ll keep looking…
And yes, I always install from the mounted disk image.
For now I’ll just stick with 5.2 unless you know of issues with this version that I have not found yet. Thanks,

Eeerrm… What is UMID and if I turn this off what will change? It’s probably something I (should) know, but the abbr. does not ring a bell.
About the 5.6 drivers, everything seems to work (prefs pane, desktop shows up on the SDI monitor and on the Y-out to my client-TV-set) but when I start FCP I get the device missing error. After Effects comes up with a Quicktime component missing error.
There is only one account on this machine and it has all admin rights. The strange thing is that this happens when I upgrade to 5.4 or 5.6. Reverting to 5.2 solves the ‘device missing’ problem.
You may recall I had this problem before with a multibridge. Updating the software (and firmware in that case) resulted in the device missing problem. The multibridge now sits in another machine (I’m not sure about the driver version there) and I put an Express pcie in mine. In the meantime I changed harddisks in this machine with a clean system and software (Final Cut, After Effects etc.) install so I think we can rule out system software. Other than the standard video card (GForce 6600) there are no other cards present in this machine.
Can I really be the only one with this problem??Tnx,

Never mind, ununstalling first resolves the issue…

After installing FCP says it’s unable to locate the output device Blackmagic 10 bit etc.
What’s up?Arjen

Oh, and when I say all is well in 5.2.3, I lied… Deck control is not always frame accurate. When I edit to tape, sometimes it’s one frame too late. So something that should start at 2:30:00 starts at 2:30:01. When I try several times sometimes it’s OK, sometimes it isn’t. Seems that the longer the sequence the higher the risk of inaccurate timing. (Since we deal in commercials for 90 % of the time, a long sequence for me is anyting over three minutes).
Because this is a ‘sometimes’ thing, it’s very annoying. It’s not a matter of setting the frame offset. I always have to check if the edit to tape is frame accurate. If not I have to redo several times until the timing is correct…
I have had this problem before when I was just using the Decklink HD-Pro but then it was gone after the first driver update.Arjen

Hi Kristian,
Yes I was (or else I would not have noticed the noise reduction in the fan). And again after re-installing the old drivers.
I don’t know what goes wrong, my broadcast monitor shows the desktop so there is at least some connection between the computer and the multibridge. But both Final Cut and after Effects complain about the video device missing…
In 5.2.3 everything seems to be fine.Arjen

Well, just did a new install of the 5.4.1 drivers, made sure there was a signal on the SDI input (colorbars from the Digibeta deck) but still no go…
Back to the old drivers with the noisy fan…A

Thanks. Is this a one time thing or do I need an SDI input at every restart, program switch etc.?

This is very interesting. We would like to use a Mac with Decklink as a virtual VTR to lay off video from telecine without tape. But so far we have not managed to get a working setup. What software and/or hardware do you use? (We tried the demo version of VirtualVTR without succes and I don’t know of any other software)
Thanks in advance,
Arjen
