    Hi Shane

    How about the G Technology G-SPEED Q RAID (0 or 5) 4TB (4 x 1TB) solution?

I’m poised and ready to buy on your say so…

Kind regards and thank you in advance

Woow! Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a detailed answer. I will certainly take your advice but will no doubt come back with a few more questions when I’ve had a chance to do some more research.

    Thanks again!!!

November 29, 2010 at 1:03 am in reply to: Lens Blur – BCC AVX

Hi Michael and thanks for responding,

I was more worried that I would download the BCC AVX 7 trial, install it and it would all work fine, then after the trial runs out my Media Composer would fail to start altogether giving some error message regarding licensing or something – I guess this worries me because with the BCC 6 I have installed at present, the only place I can access the filters is in my MC and I’ve too way many important projects on at the moment to risk breaking it.

If u think that I should b able to install the trial BCC 7, that the extra filters would appear in my Avid and that when the trial runs out, all my BCC filters would disappear, until I reinstalled 6 and then I would b back to where I started (only with my desired lens blur) then it’s worth giving it a go – if u think there is even a chance it might break my MC, then I’d prefer not to risk it; I want the lens blur effect, but not THAT much!

PS. Am I right in thinking that there’s no dedicated interface for BCC 6 but there is with 7?

    Hi guys,

Thanks 4 your posts, however, they r all out of my price range; I’m only playing around with chroma key @ the mo.

I couldn’t find anything on the web so thought I’d post here, I guess I was hoping I could go straight from camera to PC.

    Thanks anyway,

Good news, I’m looking forward to hearing about your experience.

When you say Avid told you, what do you mean exactly. Is Snow Leopard support official?

    Hi All,

Well now that you’ve helped me make a platform decision (Mac over PC) now I find myself asking, “Mac O/S or bootcamp Windows on my Mac???”

Or is that the same argument?

Sorry to keep flogging this dead horse but I’ve recently been speaking to the Technical Director of a very prestigious Avid training centre/production house who’s led me to believe that PC version of Avid MC is more stable.

    Thanks Ed

I’m on XP at present. The new machine would be purely for video editing and outputting so no other software issues really (I use AE/PS on a separate PC), I will look at the HP Z line (David suggested that too!). When you order Avid MC the install disc has both PC and Mac so I’m assuming I can put my new MCv4 over the top of my MCv3 and then jump to Mac later? (I’ll install for use with dongle – Still; you know what they say about the word ASS-U-ME!)

I’m shooting/cutting HDV at the moment (got a Z5), and long term I think I can see myself using a dongle between a MacPro at home, and a MacBookPro in the field and for taking to work to edit there.

I like the, “they just work”

    Thanks for your time!
