So I need to increase saturation, make colors stronger? And is there some weaker light than default light that could look better?

I downloaded VirtualDub and mpeg plugin and my mp4 file with size 1.5 mb becomes a 1 gb AVI file. And now it works fine. But what software should I use to transcode it to quicktime file, and will I get a little smaller file size?
AVI works fine but 1 gb is a little too much for a 8 second clip.. -
Hello. I have After effect CS4 and when I use green screen mp4 footages from youtube, render results are choppy. (background uncompressed video plays fine but mp4 above it runs badly) Can I encode or convert those footages to get a better result?
