Sorry Vince. I read PAR as PAL. So I guess I did pick the right one…Square Pixles (1.0) My mind is a little cluttered right now. I think the settings are right. How should I prep size wise in Photoshop? That same resolution of 1920×1080?

Thanks Vince. I’m in the process of setting up the new sequence and here’s what I’m doing. Can you see if I’m on the right track?

I’ve gone to create new sequence>clicked the HDV folder>chose HDV 1080p30>clicked the “General” tab>picked “Desktop” from Editing Mode drop-down>changed horizontal frame to 1920>changed Pixel Aspect Ratio to Square (1.0)

Is the Pixel Aspect Ratio what you refer to as PAL 1? I’m not familar with what the “PAL” acronym is and the pixel aspect ratio was the closest thing I could find that had “1” in it.

Also…in prepping in Photoshop:
Do I crop and import this (1920×1080) size to all my stills and should I use some “basic” sharpening for good measure.

I don’t mean to be so anal, but my client is, and I’ve been meaning to nail this for a while now…thanks so much!!!!

Thanks for the info John. I understand what you’re describing. However, your way has the buttons on a main menu or a sub-menu that you have to return to. My client wants these buttons continually displayed at the bottom of the frame while video is being viewed to give easy access to audio buttons. What kind of (transparent?) menu does this? I’ve seen little menu box overlays with options on dvd’s in a corner of the frame, so I know it can be done. I just don’t know how or if Encore can. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve used Matrox in the past…good product. Was leaning that way anyway. What does UI (user interface?) stand for? I know it’s some jargon I should know….but??? Also, I have your first Focal PP book…very helpful. Do you have or plan on more books for PP2? Any recommendations? Thanks.

Thanks for the info Mike. Last night, I rendered another DVD with the DV NTSC 4mb VBR LOW Quality and the artifacts are very noticeable. The video looks as if I used a low end camera, but I used a Sony VX-2000. Does the Adobe encoder just suck or what? I thought it was supposed to be great. What opinions do you guys have on using Canopus ProCoder after my editing? I’ve heard some good things about that. Thanks.

Lower field

min. bitrate 1.6

target bitrate 4.2

max. bitrate 6.0

This was a preset with a low quality (2.1). I changed the quality setting only-to high-which made it a custom preset. ???

Like I stated-HIGH Quality (5.0) in the transcode settings.
