Thank you so much for the response. I actually think have figured it out thanks to you directing me to the routing on the mixer panel. I realized I hadn’t routed everything quite right. Now I just have to get the 2.0 M&E mix from our mixer and I should be good to go!
Thanks again Massimo!

I’m in a similar situation and was wondering if you ever found a solution to this?

The issue with saving files to the SAN was that each time a project was opened it seemed to have to re-cache the files, even when it was the same user on the same computer the files were originally cached from.
The major issue with cache files and multiple users is that each time a user logs into a computer for the first time you have to set their premiere preferences to cache files to the common location. If you don’t do this for each new user before opening/starting a project then the files will cache to the default location in the users library.
The solution we will be implementing soon is two fold. First we will have a single shared log in for each edit system. ie) “Edit 1” instead of “first name.last name”. Second we are going to connect an external thunderbolt drive that will be the dedicated media cache for each system.

Negative. I have never found a good solution for this. I have had problems saving cache files to the SAN so I am now looking into possibly setting up a shared folder on each computer and our IT department is looking into a script that would run when someone logs into a computer for the first time to set the premiere cache folder to the shared folder. That way it is easier to periodically clear the cache files. Still dealing with the individual user issue though.

Spoke to Adobe. Premiere CC apparently doesn’t support linking media to an embedded aaf file. Not sure if this will ever be supported or even if it’s possible to link to the embedded media in the aaf. Just incase anyone else is scratching their head on this one.

I got an AAF from a post house that has everything embedded. When I import it into premiere it pulls everything in ok. The sequence has all the edits, but it’s all offline. When pulls up the link media window it’s looking for the aaf I just imported, but when I point it to it it says “File format not supported”. Any suggestions on how to get it to link up properly?

Also, if this is do able, what would be the best way to make the folder on the SAN the default Media Cache for all users? Is this possible? Or would it have to be updated for each new user on each system?

So is having a central Media Cache Database/Files folder on a shared SAN still not recommended?
Here is my situation. We have about about 18-20 different systems accessing our SAN. Most are via a fiber network. A few are via Cat-5. The systems using CAT-5 have 9tb raid arrays built in and I can set those to be the media cache for those systems, but the other systems only have 500gb ssd and they fill up fairly fast. Deleting all the Media Cache Files can be a pain because there are usually about 10 or so different user profiles on each system due to a variety of freelance editors that come through. For those systems I wanted to set the Media Cache as a single folder on the SAN and periodically sort the files by date and delete all files that are over a month old. (We are a Ad Agency so projects tend to turn over pretty often) Is this something that is not recommended still or should I be ok doing this since most of the systems are connected via fiber?

Scratch that. I think it IS because they are interlaced. It looks like all footage that is interlaced (pretty much the entire doc) isn’t getting trimmed. This seems ridiculous that there isn’t a fix for this yet. Anyone?
