Thanks for your quick response, Ian! So I can now directly upgrade from 1.17 to 1.3 with the file you provided?

    Thanks, Ian.

I clicked on the link you sent me, and selected “XDCAM EX Memory Camcorders and Decks, For models: PMW-320, PMW-350, PMW-500, PMW-EX1R, PMW-EX3, and PMW-F3” . Under there, there’s PMW-EX3 Version 1.16. Under there, there is a line says “Please contact Sony Technical Support at 1-800-883-6817, options 2,5,2 for upgrade assistance”. When I click on “PMW-EX3 Version 1.16”, this is what I got:

    Solid-State Memory Camcorder
    Video Products
    Technical Bulletin 30-2011-096
    DATE: June 13, 2011
    MODEL: PMW-EX1 PMW-EX3
    SERIAL NO: ALL
    SUBJECT: FIRMWARE UPGRADE INFORMATION
    DESCRIPTION
To order firmware upgrades and for detailed firmware upgrade instructions, contact Sony’s:
Product Operation Support Center (POSC) 800-883-6817
CAUTION: Before upgrading to firmware V1.26 or higher, firmware must first be upgraded to V1.13 or higher.

I think “CAUTION: Before upgrading to firmware V1.26 or higher, firmware must first be upgraded to V1.13 or higher.” is for EX1, because I had problem with upgrading directly to 1.26 with EX1 before. I don’t see any thing for EX3.

    Thanks,
    Ann

    Hi,

my EX3 is at version 1.1. What is the latest version? How do I go about getting it upgraded? Do I have to go step by step from 1.10 to 1.15, 1.16, 1.17, 1.18, 1.20, etc.? Where can I download the firmware?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Thank you so much, Julian. Another question, do you have any version lower than 1.05?

    Regards,

Hi Julian, the video playback is either no sound or very low volume with lots of statics. The camera worked fine before. I first upgraded from 1.05 to 1.26 and got many problems, such as very slow start, after the upgrade. So I downgrade it back to 1.05 and upgrade again version by version without skipping version, except 1.13 which I don’t have. After that, the camera is back to normal in every aspect except the audio does not work any more.

    Thanks,
    Ann

    Hi Julian,

Could you please send me the two 1.13 you have any way? I got audio problem after upgrade. I’m stuck with no luck. Just want to give it a last try without skipping any version. Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hi Julian,

It behaves the same whichever microphone I use. And only one audio meter shows up. The one audio meter even show up, the level bar almost doesn’t move. When play back the recording, there’s lots of static noise and the recorded audio has very low volume.

    Thanks,
    Ann

    Hi Julian,

Thanks. I did previously upgraded directly from Manufacture version to 1.26 and the camera got trouble like many other people experienced: took long time to start, no audio, etc. After downgrading it back to 1.05 and then upgrade version by version: 1.10, 1.11, 1.12, 1.14, 1.26, everything’s back to normal except the audio. The audio playback has very low volume with lots of static noise. Do you know what could be wrong?

    Thanks,
    Ann
