Yes I got it working!
And the repositioning is because I want to make another version/composition of the same concept. So then with the ribbons’ initial position mirrored…

Been working with this for a while now and just finished the first version of a sculpture using this sim (see image).
Now I’m trying to reposition the geometry to mirror my first version. But when I do that they start to misbehave (se screenshot – some ribbons remain totally stiff in the first bit for some reason). Seems there still some hidden magic in this (at least for me). So ribbons_cloth3_00 is working fine. Then in ribbons_cloth3_02 I’ve correctly re-positioned everything, but then they start to misbehave… Perhaps someone here knows a fix…?

Amazing! Disabling banking did the trick. And on the other issue (me basically wanting more torque movement) you were also right I think – adjusting the frequency of the turbulence already seems to give me better results. I’m going to work a bit further on this, but I think this is what I was looking for. Thank you so much again!

I’ve given new shape to this little project. Literally. So from round shaped ropes I went to rectangle shaped ribbons. Sort of. Now the big difference is that now the rotation on it’s own axis is visible. And here are two factors which I cannot get working the way I want them to;
1.
The base of the rope – where the connector tag fixes it to the plane – now seems to fully rotate. As if the connector doesn’t relate at all to this rotational movement. I want the connector tag to fixate the rotational movement just as it does the physical position in the xyz axis.
2.
The ‘ribbon’ doesn’t seem to torque naturally. Or maybe at all. I would like the base to be fixed and to have this torque movement appear over the length of the rope.
Any ideas on how to change these physical properties?

I’m working in 2023.01 on a mac. what version are you working in?

strange. mine is still not working… before making it editable wasn’t necessary, but now it was. so made it editable, then for some reason had to pull down some connections in the connector. then it worked as before. but not as desired…
