Make a new project and see of the files will play or not.
Usually its not a good idea to update/grade in the middle of a project.

Usually it will use Mpeg I frame for preview.

General speaking I would not use Match Sequence Settings as it will use the Preview codec which is of lesser quality.

When exporting just use a preset or make the export settings yourself.
