You should be able to capture from the D8 camera just the same way you capture from a dv camera.
When connecting the camera and the pop up shows for WMM just close it and start up Premiere CS4. Select the dv standaard setting to set up a project and then you will be able to capture.
No drivers needed.

Been using ASUS from the start. Never had an unstable board yet. At present i am on a Rampage II Extreme. Along with Vista 64; rock solid.
And have been running editing, emails and internet on one machine from the start, never encountered an issue.

Converting probably looses the widescreen flag but Premiere likes DV type 2 best. Type I needs to be rendered first before previewing.

Unfortunately Premiere does not like xvid at all.
Try and convert to dv-avi.
