Imo its better and easiest way is to set the hdv camera to downconvert and capture it as DV through firewire on CS5 directly.

For CS3 PAL that would be 1024×576.
CS4+CS5 require 1050×576.

If you use the Youtube preset you cannot go wrong, it works perfectly.

Wild quess, i think you need to set Multiplexing to ON.

Panning scenes with these new camera need to be done very very slooooooooooowly. I do not see the advantage of shooting 50p and then bringing it down to 720 25 (would that be 720×576 or 1280×720). 50p is great for slowmotion and that is about it, imo.
I shoot hdv 50i, never had any issues with fields, i dont even deinterlace (only for the web).

Put in a cheap Nvidia which runs on the same driver along the main nvidia card and you still will have your 3 monitors and MPE hardware.

Storing footage on the C;drive is not a good idea. Better is to have them on a seperate drive.
