February 5, 2014 at 5:07 pm in reply to: Changed of graphics card on Mac Pro2009 !! now SSD??5400 RPM disk – approx 60MB/sec maximum sustainable I/O
7200 RPM disk – approx 110MB/sec maximim sustainable I/O
10K RPM disk – approx 1640MB/sec maximum sustainable I/OOn the other hand, most 250GB+ SSD drives average around 400MB/sec or more.
Tim sorry not sure about this comment of yours.
Have I got this right? 250GB+ SSD drives average around 400MB/sec or more is slower that the 10K RPM disk – approx 1640MB/sec maximum sustainable I/Ois it?
Thanks for all your help

February 5, 2014 at 4:19 pm in reply to: Changed of graphics card on Mac Pro2009 !! now SSD??Gosh Tim, Thanks….
lots of info there for my wee small brain to take in…
What I did not mention is that I am already full of drives. 4TB time machine and 2 2TB basic storage (I used up the slot below the optical drive) So 5 in total. So I would have to do some moving about. I tried to think about getting rid of the optical drive to use that bay., But I cant work out if a mac superdrive I got along with the laptop would work on it. I also use externals too !!!But I have no BIG pegasus or raid…. only separate drives. and time machine for back up.
Mac Drive 650GB
Physical Drive: 7200 RPM
Media Name: WDC WD6400AAKS-41H2B0Velociraptor 300GB
Physical Drive: 10000 RPM
Media Name: WDC WD3000HLFS-01G6U0storage archives (no 1) 2TB
Physical Drive: 5400 RPM
Media Name: WDC WD20EARS-00MVWB0storage archives (no 2) 2TB
Physical Drive: 5400 RPM
Media Name: WDC WD20EARS-00MVWB0Time machine 4 TB I think 7200
HGST HDS724040ALE640I now almost there to try the 3 drive stripe option ? If I moved everything around…? and off onto only externals…
Seems though you think the Mac pro is worth improving.

February 3, 2014 at 1:33 pm in reply to: Compressor 4.1 is stalled and won’t delete an active job.I”ve got problems with it too… just started today. not quite the same … just that it keeps crashing almost as soon as I open it and there are 3 videos in the list to batch yet no “start Batch” button illuminated for me to click.. 2 of the videos have not even had codecs added to them… It just stuck “bombing” out.
Tried reset queue..and cancel jobs and restart jobs click reset. but no change. They don’t seem to work. Tried clearing…history.. But just crashes.
Seems a bug… can’t use compressor at all.
Cant clear history either.
Normally I would just reinstall but can’t seem to work out how to do that either…
It got a Bug!!
CANT USE IT… just when I need it.. !
Thanks for all your help

January 8, 2014 at 9:40 pm in reply to: archiving Libraries … how do I get rid of render filesThanks… but….
You can also do it within FCPX by selecting either an event or a project and choosing file–>delete render files.
now this option is not in the latest version… or its is somewhere else. but its not in my 10.1 version.
Thanks for all your help

now I am even more confused than ever. 10.1 seems to have no way to collect all the files I have used……
then archive them without using a 3rd party software????
Any one made a video yet on how to archive a library the best way with 10.1 yet?
Thanks for all your help

Hi.
Does anyone know yet if anyone has covered this topic yet on a training video like on either vimeo or youtube etc.. as I can’t find one yet?
It seems to have got over complicated. I can’t understand why there was not a very simple… “Archive your library.” click! with this version? just want to see it ion action in a video. er….. just to confirm that I am not going to mess up may archive.
Thanks for all your help

December 1, 2013 at 6:20 pm in reply to: events consolidation merging and duplicating etc…[Bill Davis] “My disk librarian program told me the event was on Drive H – (I’m working on P now) – so I grabbed H off the shelf and plugged it in via Firewire 800. “
Soo… seems you never moved the events at all…???? ( I presume assets were copied to an event then )
What if you had happened to have been asked to work on X over the weekend on your laptop? what would you have done then? Thanks for all your help
