Move along, everyone. Because I already had the changes layed out, I just rendered the cropped video to a new track and was able to build the changes much quicker than the first time since I could refer back to everything I did before.
Edit: What was I thinking? I could just render the whole video to a new track and crop that.

I can’t. Unfortunately, in one part of the video, there are a few items that fade onto the screen that I was requested to crop out, which I did by masking and cropping certain areas of the frame. Basically, like a lot of split screening, only with specific parts of the screen cropped and masked and put over other parts of the same shot. If I were to just pan and crop the whole video, all those elements would be distorted.
So for now it looks like I have to start over with all that and rebuild those masks and crops. It’s only a few hours of work (and no one informed me that I should remove the black bar until today, which my client understands).

I don’t believe USB 3.0 is faster than esata. Either way, USB 3.0 is still very fast if that’s your only option.

I did this once, and I don’t think I had any problem with the VTS and ATS files. I forget how I extracted the DVD onto Vegas, but I’m pretty sure it was straightforward.

I do the first two options. I have a hard drive in an external enclosure connected via an esata cable that I keep my projects on, and I have another hard drive in an external enclosure connected via a USB 3.0 cable that backs everything up.

Vegas removes any effects or plugins when multicam editing to increase performance, since those take up processing power. I haven’t used other multicam plugins, but other people have mentioned some that let you keep your changes to events, such as VASST’s plugin, and Excaliber. Try them out and post about your results-I’d consider getting one of these.

I used an HV30 for a while and occasionally had connectivity problems, but for the most part it was straightforward. As has been said, make sure you set Vegas to look for HD or SD footage first, and that your firewire card is properly connected to your motherboard.

Bump for the day time crowd. I’m still trying to figure this out. I changed it under Broadcast Colors, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference on my footage or the waveform on Video Scopes.

Wouldn’t “Show mask” get the effect you want? Or only show mask, or something to that effect?

First, select all the video and audio tracks that you want in your multicamera project. Create your multicamera track, then enable multicamera editing. Then, under Tools > Multicamera, select “Edit Multicamera Audio with Video”.
