Go to the Adobe site and download CC (2012). All major versions can co-exist on your computer without issue, and you have access to all major versions back to CS6.

In Premiere’s options, there is a checkbox for “Write XMP ID to file” which writes a small universal ID piece of metadate to some file types – mostly to track if that asset has a rendered copy in the render cache.
This is the only option that directly modifies certain files when being opened in Premiere.

You manually have to change a text file for the hack, so you haven’t done it. Alternately, if you have an approved CUDA card for Premiere, you should go back to software acceleration.
Do all sources have similar corruption or just a particular camera or clip? Your opening post was a touch vague about it.

Why close the program panel? stick it as a tab with the timelines or undock it and stick it behind the window (it should do this on Mac I think) or just put it nearly off screen in the corner.

Preferences > Playback. If you have a second monitor it should show up as an additional “Adobe DV” display. This should clone out the program monitor.

Have you selected to consolidate all the render files? It may not be included in the “original project size”

Edit them in Keyboard Shortcuts, they’re listed under Program Monitor>Program Monitor Panel>Playback Resolution. These, so far as I know, are not defined by default but you can remove or reassign them easily.

Premiere Pro CC 2014 now lets you add effects to source clips (aka “Master Clips”) so if you can do all of your adjustments with effects you can skip the need for throwing single clips on a timeline of the headache that comes with nesting a lot of things.

In Premiere? No, it’s not scriptable and plugins don’t have access to move clips in the timeline.
https://aescripts.com/layer-random-shifter/ may be useful in AE, it’s name your own price so you can grab it for free if you’re so inclined. Not exactly the result you’re looking for, but use some google-fu and I think you’ll be ok.
