Thanks but my timeline is fine if I output via same codec and settings except 720. Its the 1080 thats killing it apparently so i dont think a corrupt timeline or clip within that timeline can be the culprit (tho i spose it wouldn’t hurt to try your solution).
Someone else has suggested to export a self contained Quicktime (?) and go via Compressor tho again, I’m not sure what difference this should make but i’ll try.

Yep, you’re right Thanks. It should be set to RGB (not Alpha). Dont know how it managed to change itself either (;)

Thanks for response but no JPEGs involved at all.
This timeline only 5secs long (a quick trailer) via Quicktime conversion H264 at 1080. Strangely, if I export exactly same timeline at 720 its fine. Original media ProRes422 1080.
Have exported at 1080 before ok. No nested files involved; re-connected all media; no JPEGs involved; plenty of memory (all of which i have heard can be issues).

Spec: New MacPro 12-core; 12 MB ram; 2TB drive; FCP7

I’ve had exactly the same problem in FCP 7 and checked my settings but all correct. (ie it IS set to Alpha). I am also getting a “General Error’ message when i try to export the timeline but dont know if these problems are connected. Anyone with any ideas or help please?

Thats not working for me. re-rendered timeline clip by clip. Reduced timeline to a section. re-rendered again. Same error message. Any help out there? Thanks.

Why can you not edit Pro Res in FCE?
And what does the obscure “Hindsight is always 1080p” mean please?

Does anyone have a workaround for editing your Canon 7D footage in FCE?
I cant install FCP on my G5 cos its a PPC version.

I cant buy a new Mac Pro so that i can install FCP: everyone advises not to at the mo as Mac just about to release new machine. (Last time I bought MacBook they release new machine a few days later)

Im stuck and have to get job done this week!
    Any advice gratefully received!
