white screen in canvas/ no image when timeline paused
Posted by Ryanschlagbaum on December 6, 2005 at 3:18 amThis is probably a very simple fix, but I can’t find it anywhere. Normally the canvas shows a still frame where you are stopped in the timeline. I bumped some shortcut (I guess) on my keyboard and now whenever I stop playback in the timeline, the canvas becomes a plain white screen. Does anybody know how to get my canvas to show the still frame again?

December 6, 2005 at 4:51 amGo to the top ov your canvas window where you’ll find a small pull down menu. Choose the RGB setting instead of the gamma setting.

December 6, 2005 at 4:59 amSorry…….I meant Alpha setting, not Gamma setting. There’s 3 pulldown menus at the top of the window. Go to the one furthest to the right.

October 10, 2010 at 1:02 pmI’ve had exactly the same problem in FCP 7 and checked my settings but all correct. (ie it IS set to Alpha). I am also getting a “General Error’ message when i try to export the timeline but dont know if these problems are connected. Anyone with any ideas or help please?

October 10, 2010 at 9:52 pmJust had the same “white frame in pause” problem, and found that the dropdown was set to ALPHA instead of RGB.

When I set it to RGB everything went back to normal. I’m using FCP 7 too. Don’t really know how this got changed, but happy it was an easy fix. Glad I thought to search the forum before undertaking any more radical repair measures!
