Sorry to hear about your issues. I’m thinking of making the move to HDe and I’m also PAL based. Could it be that PAL is the poor relation to NTSC? In the past SD M100 PAL has been rock solid.

Actually nearly $6,000 is the price without VAT.VAT @17.5% adds another $1,000!
Most pros would be VAT registered and therefore be able to claim the VAT back.
There might be a different power supply fitted for the UK but even so the price differential seems unfair.

I’ve had a similar problem with M100 not opening – but it’s intermittent and random.
It normally begins to misbehave after working in AFX.
Usually if you leave it overnight it then starts up in the morning!
Makes no sense to me and I’m just living with it. I’ve found that if I create a new user i can open M100 that way. I’m resigned to this until the move to HD next year.

It’s probably a good idea for ‘old’ M100 users to get to grips with the Apple and Adobe apps – they seem to be establishing themselves as industry standard tools. We will need to spend the time to get to know them well enough so we can get the work out the door when the pressue is on.
I hope M100 can live along side. I think it will still be my first choice for long-form or non effects-heavy work. What would be great is to standardize on an SD and HD codec that can be used natively by M100, Apple and Adobe with no rerendering so you can bounce between apps as you need the features.
Now what about Avid..?

Will they all run on the new AJA I/O box?
I guess I’ll end up getting all three and choosing which to use depending on the type of job – more expensive but I feel that no one system is going to be enough – maybe the M100 forum could accommodate those of us who also use other apps along with M100 rather than going to that specific forum?
It would be good to share workflow tips when using multiple apps.

Keylight in After Effects is an excellent keyer which produces great results even from DVCAM (with a pro camera and lens of course).
Much more flexible than doing it in M100.

I’m using media 1001 8.2.3a with 10.4.9 and I have not has any problems. That’s not to say that you won’t either so it’s a good idea to have a bootable backup or clone of you entire HD that you can go back to.

The 3D was rendered as frames not fielded. We tried different amounts of motion blur but that really made no difference. We have speeded up the movement of the graphics in Lightwave and it looks better but still mot as smooth as I’d like.
I’ll take a look at the other things you mentioned.
