wow that modify is a lifesaver.

and as for the timeline option, i just drag the clips in one on top of each other lock the appropriate content, and delete the other, but i couldnt figure out how to link them afterwords.

Im workinng on importing a bunch of hi-8 and vhs footage fomr years back into final to digitize and re-edit all of it.

Very time consuming, besides the fact i am using a dv camera as a bridge, and the hi-8 camera, and vhs deck only have mono outputs. I realize im doing this very cheeply, but its working, and not to shabby actually.

ok well the stuff on my 320gb hard drive is stuck in fat32 until i can move it and reformat, but the 80gb hard drive ive got on my friends computer is also formatted in fat32
however he has a 14 gb video file i need to transfer to my computer, so i can play with it in fcp. Because it is not able to be broken up how would you suggest i get it transferred to my computer?

great, you know how long copying 135gb of data at roughly 20 mins a gb will take? Not to mention i dont even have the free space on my computer, i suppose im stuck with verrry long wait times.

next time i will no better.

Hmm good info, although for this larger drive i do not need to share files between the two computers, i am about to partition the 320gb drive for mac os extended, on the rest of the free space (roughly 164gbs) and leave the files that are in the fat32 side untouched. This in theory should not delete my files right? just leave them in previously charted fat32 territory

all i know is my transfer file times are hurting my future projects big time,

    OH NOOOOO!!!!!!!

    Just kidding,

But i am sure you all have done something as equally stupid.
I think there is a way i can partition the drive so that the stuff i have on it right now can stay there, and i can split the rest of the drive in half for fat32 and the other for mac os extended, although im not sure which one to chose, os extendedcase sensitive, case sensitive journaled, journals, or regular,

it is formatted fat32, is that wrong?
I know that is the standard cross platform format, but if i decide to reformat, do i lose all my files? Can i split the hardrive and duel format it?

my friends 80gb is formatted both fat 32 and dos i believe, so we can use it on both.

April 21, 2008 at 7:27 pm in reply to: still frame woes

nevermind, i figured it out myself,

i highlight the clip, shift+n to make freeze frame in my viewer window, then drag my freeze frame clip out of my viewer window and into my timeline, which it still imports at ten seconds length, but i can change that in my user preferences,

thanks for the help forum guys and gals.
