is there an easier way other than exporting a still image, re-importing it, and shortening it to the durration i need it for in fcp4.5 to hold an image still for say 15 frames? i have a project that requires a ton of these holds for roughly 15 frames, and im up to lik 45 still images imported for each of them, copy and paste doesnt work, im trying to still a pendulin swinging on on an antique clock, so the motion stops at different times according to the music,

am i doing this the best way with the exported still image?

cause once i bring it back in, not only is it like a second or so long, and i have to adjust my timeline to cut it, then blow up my timeline again to get it to fit into the 15 frame segment.

so ive got a few questions, can i adjust the length of the image before i bring it into my timeline so i dont have to readjust my time line everytime i import an image, and why do i have to apply a flicker filter to my still image to keep the image from being a different brightness and contrast than the live action footage? and is there an easier way to go about all this or am i stuck?

Pretty much common knowledge: Shift + N creates a still/freeze without exporting. In your user prefs you can also enter in the duration of all your stills.

I wish i was born with the knoladge to know all there is to know about final cut,

i checked my manual, looked up strobing and freeze frames, and for some reason i cant get shift+n to work. Do i have to have my clip i want to freeze highlighted? (tried that) do i have to have my frame cut from the rest of the footage? (tried that) something is not letting me freeze these clips, do i have to turn something on or off in the project prefs?

nevermind, i figured it out myself,

i highlight the clip, shift+n to make freeze frame in my viewer window, then drag my freeze frame clip out of my viewer window and into my timeline, which it still imports at ten seconds length, but i can change that in my user preferences,

thanks for the help forum guys and gals.

Perhaps my response wasn’t as complete because this is a forum for experienced users. How to make a freeze frame would be better suited to the FCP beginners forum, so check that out. Of course, no one was born with FCP knowledge, we were all beginners once.
