I thought I should state that I started editing video using an Avid MC in 1998. Our system at work was based of the Targa 2000 capture card with a Pinnacle Genie board for the real-time effects. I like the system we had at work and later built my own NLE (1998) using a Pinnacle DC 10 plus capture card and Pinnacle Studio 1.0 software. I later bought a Canopus Storm (2001) with Premiere 6.0. Premiere had a Fisher Price like GUI but Premiere Pro 1.0 was awesome. I used Edius as well as Pinnacle’s Liquid Edition. All the NLE had strengths and weaknesses as well as buggy glitches. The Canopus DVD Storm did not play well with Premiere 6.0 (it did work overall). The Matrox cards and Pinnacle Pro One were better options for Premiere 6.0.

As for now I just use Premiere Pro CC and my Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle. Having said that I just recently bought a Mac Mini and I am using the trial version of FCPX. Editing on the Mac Mini using FCPX has been decent so far but I did find a glitch/bug in FCPX within 24 hours. I hope to do some FCPX (Mac Mini) videos soon.

[André Rodrigues] “Blackmagic Deck Link – Have no Idea.”

The Intensity Shuttle is 10-bit but you would also need a 10-bit monitor. The video link below might be worth watching.

  • You would have to set an in and out point on the timeline to have the video clip fit to fill. I don’t think there is a short cut method.

I hope everyone has let Adobe know not to get rid of the old titling system. I am not all that impressed with the NAB 2017 update. In fact I was really let down : (

  • The key-frames are probably bezier interpolation instead of linear.

  • I don’t think movies and TV shows will benefit or make much use of VR/AR/360 (as of now) but education and training projects probably will. I think we may someday go beyond 360% cameras and make use of true holograms. Instead of a 50″ LCD you will have something similar to 200 gallon fish aquarium displaying true holograms. Will it happen in my lifetime? Who knows? Will BMD be the first to provide the hardware (Cameras) and software (Halo Edit 1.2)? Who knows? One thing we do know is that Halo Edit 1.2 will not be as amazing, innovative and revolutionary as FCPX : )

My old GTX 650 Ti only had 768 CUDA doors and worked great. My GTX 1060 has 1280 CUDA cores and works even better. I think something is wrong with your computer.

August 3, 2017 at 6:49 am in reply to: Apple getting ready for the coming new MacPros?

[Bill Davis] “For example: The project that David Tillman cut entirely on X nearly two years ago for Chuck Braverman’s OJ Simpson, The Lost Tapes project – Just snagged a couple of Emmy nominations a couple of weeks ago.”

What is your point? I never even seen it to be honest with you.

[Bill Davis] “As an X editor – I see TONS of X content from all over the world.

In order to see stuff on Premiere or AVID – I have to actively seek it out via effort.”

There are movies cut on Avid MC and Premiere Pro but the users of Premiere Pro and Avid don’t make movies about it (Off The Tracks) and have get togethers about it like the FCPX users do.

August 3, 2017 at 6:38 am in reply to: Apple getting ready for the coming new MacPros?

[Bill Davis] “I’d love to be educated about how the Premiere or AVID editing operations are improving and evolving.”

I don’t think that is the case. I doubt you have watched even one Premiere Pro video I have posted let alone all of them. I think Most Avid and Premiere Pro editors will watch a video of FCPX if it posted in this forum. Why not just watch a few Premiere Pro or Avid MC videos on YouTube if you really want to see what the competition can do? I am always checking out the competition and will switch platforms if necesary. I don’t think you care about the competition because you are to loyal to Apple to ever switch. Am I correct? Be honest : )

[Bill Davis] “So how is your NLE of choice evolving? I know how mine has – and continues to.”

    ?

You honestly think there is no difference from Premiere 6.5 to Premiere Pro 1.0 or Premiere pro 1.0 to Premiere Pro CC? There is such a huge difference form Premiere 1.0 to Premiere Pro 6.0 I could write a book about. Having said that do you see anyone asking has FCP evolved? I don’t even have DR but I have seen DR getting better and better. As a Premiere Pro user I can also see Avid and FCP getting better and better.

I could say so much more but I will be a good boy : )

August 2, 2017 at 6:56 pm in reply to: Fusion 9 leak, VR and price drop

[Michael Gissing] “Once you have graded and processed, you can probably find any number of open source programs like GIMP to do those conversions from a 16 bit TIFF out of Resolve or Fusion for printing.”

A TIFF is not the same as the original file. I also don’t think the BMD software uses vector based drawing tools but perhaps they do.
