I think the OS is most important aspect at this point in time as opposed to the hardware. I think the MS Surface Studio showed how natural a touch screen can be to work with. Why have a mouse and keyboard? I have seen the Mac Book Pro’s Touchbar demos. I have seen them scroll the FCPX timeline but keep in mind on a laptop you are only a few inches from the screen. Why not just touch the screen? I admit Apple can put the trim and cut tools on the touch bar by why not just use the existing keyboard shortcuts or use a laptop with touch screen? I think the Touchbar is odd for the simple fact you would have to change your editing style if you are on a 2013 Mac Pro VS a 2016 Mac Book Pro with the Touchbar. With Windows you can get touch screen for less than the $300.00 Apple will charge for the touch bar. Keep in mind for video editing you will not need anything like the screen on the Surface Studio. Having said that we will probably see screens that will rival the Surface Studio for less $1000.00 in about 2 years. By 2020 they will be less than $500.00. I am not trying to suggest you want a touch screen I am pointing out the huge difference between Apple and MS. I hope my response helps you decide what will be your best option looking forward into the future.
