The control surface lets you adjust several parameters at once as opposed to one operation at a time when using a mouse. Just seeing a 2-3 minute long video of a control surface in action is usually not impressive. It is when you work with it for several hours and you don’t have to use mouse click after mouse click after mouse click that the benefits are revealed.

The plugins can add up to more than the FCPX software. Also the CC has some cool plugins like Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Dreamweaver, InDesign and many other programs
Someone claimed Avid’s MC is like a printing press and Premiere Pro was like a color printer while FCPX was like a web page. Let me see you print out a newspaper using Avid’s MC or design a website using FCPX. I am not a fan of the CC but you have to admit the CC is a full multimedia solution. You don’t just get Premiere Pro for $50.00.

My point is that I don’t think FCPX was half baked. It was missing a lot of features because it was released about 14 months to soon. That is not the same as half baked. Apple knew they could not wait 14 more months becuase Premiere Pro was gaining traction.

Half baked is just mediocre. Releasing a good idea to soon is releasing a good idea to soon. I am not saying The Essential Graphics Panel is a good idea. I do think it has potential but we will have to wait until NAB 2018 to know for sure.

I agree but I am not the one who called it half baked. Brian stated it was half baked I stated it was released a year to soon. I think we agree.

That kind of sucks. I know Mackie has some cool control surfaces. I use a Korg nano Kontrol 2 with Premiere Pro and Audition. It works good for $59.99. It would be great if the faders were 15-20 millimeters longer but it works OK. It has your basic solo, mute, record buttons. The only bad thing is that when the solo and mute buttons are depressed they turn red. I wish the buttons would make use of red, yellow and green like most NLEs and DAWs.

Keep in mind that Korg nanoKontrol 2 was not designed for Photoshop. Other control surfaces could allow for better integration with Photoshop. I posted the video because Phototshop doesn’t really ever get mentioned in this forum but control surfaces do. Having said that the Korg nanoKontrol 2 will work great with Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro. As far as taking your eyes of the computer screen that is why Microsoft released the Surface Studio with the Surface Dial. I thought that was really cool. Having said that I think it is cool to see alternative ways for people to do their work. I know other people use game pads with Premiere Pro and Photoshop. Perhaps you can post a video of your workflow using the game pad.

What exactly is half baked in Premiere Pro? The Essential Graphics Panel was probably released 14 -15 months to soon but the same could be said about FCPX. Was FCPX half baked? Is Apple’s Touchbar half baked? I would tend to think so since the awesome new keyboard for the iMac Pro does not have a touch bar. No one mentioned that : )

DR has come a long way over the past 3 years. DR 14 looks very impressive. I was told Adobe is aware of BMD’s offerings. Adobe is going to have to bring there A-Game to NAB 2018. DR has some cool filters and the Fairlight integrations is awesome. Adobe needs to merge Audition into Premiere Pro as well as After Effects. The integration between programs is not bad but a merging of the programs would be even better. Adobe wasted a lot of time and effort creating a new titling systems that as of now is worse than what we had before. The Essential Graphics Panel is supposed to get better over time but I think it might have been better to release it at NAB 2018 when it was 100% ready.

Bill has started several threads exactly like the one you are commenting now but that type or repetitiveness does not bother you. Having said that the video link was recently the topic of debate as someone mentioned. Many people badmouthed Premiere Pro. It demonstrates Bill has selective vision. I consider it worth posting in this thread.

Who in the Cow glorifies Premiere Pro? Please point them out. Who in the Cow starts threads every 6-7 weeks about people being hostile towards Premiere Pro? Who do you know like that?
I set the record straight! Sometimes with a video sometime with a comment. Isn’t it good to eliminate the BS at the Cow? Shouldn’t that be encourage around here rather than just spewing BS and useless rhetoric? Instead of glorifying FCPX Bill should demonstrate in a video how FCPX can do pancake editing better than Premiere Pro or something similar? Having said who on the Cow claims time and time again that Premiere Pro is revolutionary, amazing and innovative? Please call that person out for me. For the record I myself have bad mouthed Premiere Pro more than FCPX here at the Cow. I also have videos where I badmouth Premiere Pro. Having said that how many times have you badmouthed FCPX. Is it really wise for the pot to call the kettle black?

What is your point? Many world class (perhaps self proclaimed) FCPX users bad mouthed the titling system of Premiere Pro. I proved that to be false. False information about Premiere Pro does not seem to bother you so why are you so concerned about FCPX? It seems like favoritism to me.

It sounds like 50i instead of 50P. If you op to have the playback windows size at 50% instead of fit to fill and the jagged lines are no longer an issues you have interlaced video with 50 fields per second as opposed to 50 frames per second. That is why people buy broadcast equipment like in the video link below.
